Following ‘Thug Life’, legendary filmmaker Mani Ratnam is set to explore the romantic drama genre once again with a promising combination of Vijay Sethupathi and Sai Pallavi. Given the director’s strong track record with love stories, the upcoming film has already generated considerable interest among audiences.
The latest update confirms that the project has been titled ‘Inji Vellam’. The makers have unveiled a motion poster featuring the lead pair, while also announcing January 2027 as the film’s release window.
Adding to the film’s buzz, its digital streaming rights have already been acquired by Netflix. The early OTT deal is notable at a time when several mid-budget films are reportedly finding it challenging to secure lucrative digital deals.
The film is being produced by Madras Talkies in association with Lyca Productions and India Talkies. Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman is providing the music.
Vijay Sethupathi has previously collaborated with Mani Ratnam in ‘Chekka Chivantha Vaanam’, while ‘Inji Vellam’ marks Sai Pallavi’s first collaboration with the acclaimed filmmaker.
With an exciting lead pair, Mani Ratnam’s romantic storytelling and AR Rahman’s music coming together, ‘Inji Vellam’ is shaping up as an interesting release to watch out for in January 2027.
