South Africa opening batsman Aiden Markram has been ruled out of the ongoing series against England with a fractured finger.
The injury happened on Day 2 of the first Test in Centurion, which left Markram with a fracture on the fourth left finger. The injury will need surgery, removing Markram from play for at least six weeks.
“Aiden sustained a fracture affecting the distal joint of his left ring finger,” Dr Shuaib Manjra, Cricket South Africa Chief Medical Officer, said.
Markram had recently missed the third Test against India in Ranchi after “lashing out at an object” and fracturing his right wrist on bagging a pair in Pune.
