Meta Purges 21M+ Harmful Posts on FB & Insta India in July:
Meta removed a total of 15.8 million pieces of content for Facebook, covering 13 policy violations, and 5.9 million pieces of content for Instagram, encompassing 12 policy violations in India during July. Throughout July, Facebook received 3,200 reports via the Indian grievance mechanism. In response, Meta provided tools for users to address their concerns in 5,392 cases.
These tools included various reporting channels for specific violations, self-remediation options, and avenues to address account hacking issues, as outlined in Meta’s monthly report in accordance with the IT. For the remaining 25,306 reports that required specialized review, Meta assessed the content in accordance with its policies and took action on 5,392 of them. The remaining 19,914 reports were reviewed but may not have resulted in action, as stated by this social media.
On Instagram, this received 20,146 reports through the Indian grievance mechanism. Of these, they provided tools for users to resolve issues in 5,102 cases. In the case of the other 15,044 reports requiring specialized review, the Media reviewed the content and took action on 4,635 reports. The remaining 10,409 reports were reviewed but may not have led to action.
In accordance with the new IT Rules 2021, significant digital and social media platforms with over 5 million users are obligated to publish monthly compliance reports. Meta measures its actions against content that violates its standards, which may involve removing content from Facebook or Instagram or issuing warnings on photos or videos that could be disturbing to certain audiences. In June, this media took action against more than 21.8 million pieces of content violating 13 policies on Facebook and more than 5.9 million pieces of content violating 12 policies on Instagram.
