At Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, in the 54th match of the Indian Premier League 2023, Mumbai Indians emerged victorious over Royal Challengers Bangalore by six wickets.
After winning the toss, Rohit Sharma chose to bowl first against RCB. The fifties by Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell helped RCB set a target of 200 runs against MI.
In response, Suryakumar Yadav’s blistering knock helped Mumbai Indians chase down the target in the 17th over. MI has won 5 out of their 10 matches played so far in the season and was determined to secure a victory against Royal Challengers Bangalore after their recent defeat against CSK by 6 wickets.
Royal Challengers Bangalore also suffered a setback after losing their previous match against Delhi Capitals by 7 wickets. Like Mumbai Indians, they have also won 5 out of their 10 matches and are determined to win against MI in their upcoming match to keep their chances alive for a spot in the top 4.

In their previous encounter earlier this season, RCB defeated MI by 8 wickets, thanks to Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli’s outstanding innings of 73 off 43 and 82 not out off 49 balls respectively. Royal Challengers Bangalore chased down MI’s 171/7 with the help of Glenn Maxwell’s consecutive sixes after a 148-run opening partnership.
