‘Mobile Aadhar’ joins the list of 10 Identity proofs to enter airports
BCAS (Bureau of Civil Aviation and Security) issued a list of identity proofs/documents to enter the airports. The listed ID proofs can also be used for check-in. There was a lack of clarity over the suggested ID proofs.
According to the circular issued on October 26, by BCAS, it states, “In order to ensure that a bonafide passenger is travelling on a valid ticket which is issued in his/her name and also to avoid all possible controversies/arguments with the security staff, any of the following original photo identity documents can be carried.
The permissible list of documents at the Airports is a passport, voter ID proof, M-Aadhar, PAN card and driving license. Apart from the above-mentioned, passbook issued by a nationalized bank, pension card, disability photo identification and service photo ID card of central/state government, PSU, local bodies and Private Ltd co. will also be acceptable.
For differently abled, they will have to provide a disability photo ID / medical certificate. Even students have an option to furnish a photo identity card issued by a government institute. Infants or minors joined by their parents/guardians does not need any proof.Passengers, unable to produce one of the above-listed documents, they can their identity certificate issued by a group ‘A’ gazette officer from state/central government. While it is mandatory to furnish passport and an air ticket for international travel.
