Modi Skips Hyderabad’s Ganesh Immersion Festivities:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s upcoming visit to Telangana on October 1 will see his plane landing at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) instead of the traditional Begumpet airport. This change in schedule, reportedly made by the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), is based on intelligence reports. Additionally, there will be no official programs in Hyderabad on October 1.
Intelligence sources have revealed concerns about the large gathering of people in Hyderabad and its vicinity on September 28 due to Ganesh idol immersion. In light of these concerns, it was advised that the Prime Minister’s arrival at Begumpet airport, located in the city center, and his participation in any Hyderabad-based events would pose security risks.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) K Narayana Reddy of Shamshabad stated that they received information about Prime Minister Modi’s visit to RGIA on October 1, rather than his arrival at Begumpet airport. Security measures, including coordination with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), will be taken to safeguard RGIA. The Cyberabad police, especially the Shamshabad police, will be responsible for security at the Shamshabad airport.
PMO teams have already arrived in the city to oversee preparations, including trial runs of helicopters and other security arrangements. A trial run using the IAF’s MI 17 Helicopter was conducted from RGIA to Mahbubnagar, where the Prime Minister is scheduled to participate in a public meeting on October 1.
PMO officials and Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel have been actively monitoring weather reports from both state and central meteorological departments in anticipation of the Prime Minister’s visit to the city. The Prime Minister is expected to travel to Mahbubnagar by helicopter after arriving at RGIA on a special flight on October 1. Subsequently, he will return to RGIA from Mahbubnagar and depart for New Delhi on a special flight.
