Nayanthara’s Mookuthi Amman 2 is among the most anticipated upcoming films in Tamil cinema. The project is the sequel to the successful divine fantasy drama Mookuthi Amman, which was released in 2020 and earned a positive response from audiences.

While RJ Balaji directed the first installment, the sequel is being helmed by popular Tamil actor-director Sundar C, who is known for his work in commercial entertainers and the Aranmanai horror-comedy franchise. The change in director has added another layer of curiosity around the sequel.

According to the latest reports, Regina Cassandra has been roped in to play the antagonist opposite Nayanthara. The filmmaker is reportedly creating a distinctive and powerful character for Regina, with a completely different look that is expected to be one of the film’s highlights.

The sequel is being mounted on a massive scale by senior producer Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh under the Vels Film International banner. The film is reportedly being produced with a budget of more than Rs. 100 crores, making it one of the bigger projects associated with the franchise.

Adding to the buzz, reports suggest that JioHotstar has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights for a substantial amount after getting a look at the film.

With Nayanthara returning to the franchise, Sundar C taking over the direction, and Regina Cassandra reportedly playing a powerful negative role, expectations are steadily building around Mookuthi Amman 2.
