Mother kills her baby for not having ‘her colour’

In what could be termed as a disgrace and shame to motherhood, a 28-year-old woman identified as Sandhya strangled her new-born baby for not being born with ‘her colour’. The incident took place in Kottayam in the state of Kerala.
Sandhya was arrested by the police for murdering the baby. Sandhya was married to Murikkattukudy Kandathinkara Binu 10 years ago. The couple had another child who is nine years old. The incident came to light after the doctors informed the police finding some marks on the baby’s neck.
‘Sandhya committed the murder in her house. After strangling the child, she told her husband that the child was not moving. They immediately rushed to the hospital. The child succumbed to the injuries. Doctors informed us after they found some marks on the baby’s neck.
Sandhya has confessed the crime during the investigation. She said her motive to kill the baby was that the baby did not have her colour of facial feature of her husband,’ said the police.
The police have arrested and registered a murder case against Sandhya.
