Alaya F says mom Pooja Bedi is ‘an extremely positive person’

Mumbai, April 8 (Telugu bullet) Her mom, actress Pooja Bedi, has never really minced words when it comes to sharing her thoughts. However, budding actress Alaya F says when it comes to sharing knowledge and experiences about the industry, she and her mom have always had positive conversations.

She says when it comes to her mom, she has always been positive about her experience in the industry.

“The one wonderful thing is that she is an extremely positive person. She focuses on telling me the positives. If I ask about it, she will tell me anything I want to know. Most of the conversations related to the the industry have been positive,” Alaya says

She adds that her mother never planned to be an actress.

“My mother never intended to be an actor. It was never her big dream to be an actor. She kind of fell into it. I don’t think there were many heartbreaks with the industry when it came to her,” she says.

Meanwhile, the actress, who was seen in her film “Jawaani Jaaneman”, recently starred in a music video called “Aaj sajeya”. The song has been written, composed and sung by Goldie Sohel.

“My film released and the world went into lockdown, so I lost a year at the start of my career. Which is okay! I knew that I wasn’t going to have a release coming out super soon. When Punit (Malhotra) came to me, I saw no reason not to do it. I mean Manish Malhotra was doing my clothes and Micky (Contractor) sir was going to do my make up and he (Puneet) was directing it. Everyone else involved was just so wonderful, I was like let’s totally do it!” she says.

Alaya dons the look of a young bride in the music video.

“The concept is fun, young, new, modern bride. It is funny because when I go to a wedding, instead of heels, I wear boots or high sneakers as they are more comfortable. I related to it on a personal level. I loved the whole vibe of it. It was something which my character from ‘Jawaani Jaaneman’ never got. In the film, I got pregnant, but never married. So here I got to get married!” she says.

Sayani Gupta: Only in India do actors talk about a film’s business

April 7 (Telugu Bullet) Actress Sayani Gupta feels the concept of star worship can only be prevalent in India, and she claims it is bizarre that actors here talk about the business a film has done.

“I don’t think as an actor you should think about any of this… Your job is not to think of any of this. Your job is to do your job well and we are not people who are in this because of some ulterior motive. The box office is not in your control, and I hate it when actors talk about numbers and say their films have done 100 crores. How does that matter?” Sayani says

“It is bizarre and it is only in our country that actors talk about business a film has done,” she added.

Sayani says as an actor her job is to do her job well and do it right, and “to portray the character in the best possible way, becoming the medium of the vision of my director and writer”.

She stresses that in cinema, the actor is the smallest part.

“In our country, we make them big. This is star worship, but honestly, I am as important as the DoP (director of photography) of the film. Half of the acting happens on the edit table. Cinema is not just an actor’s medium but also a director’s medium,” Sayani said.

She added: “The business has to be seen by the producers, let them worry about that. If it’s a huge star then those responsibilities are probably different.”

What about actors being blamed for a film’s failure? “I don’t think actors are to blame. It only happens to stars — only five stars in the country, probably. So, let’s not kid ourselves by thinking (we are) in that position. We are not those people. And it took the stars 40 years to get where they are. But as actors I feel I am safe because we have to do our job and leave,” she said.

A film’s turnout is not in an actor’s control, she insists. “(It is) Not even in the makers’ control. I am always nervous when I start working on a character and I am extremely critical of the work I do, and my only thing is if I have done a good job or not and thankfully I haven’t got a bad review recently,” said Sayani, who was seen in the Netflix film “Pagglait”.

Rani Mukerji: Being an actress in film industry is not easy

Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji, who has worked in Bollywood for 25 years now, says it is challenging to be a part of showbiz.

She says her advice to newcomers would be to understand that there are a lot of expectations in this industry.

“My only advice would be that being an actress in the film industry is not easy. It’s a very, very difficult profession to be in, as there are a lot of expectations that the audience has from you once you become an established star. Also, to be able to work in different conditions is not easy,” she says.

“Of course, on-screen it all looks glamorous and easy and nice. It looks serene and beautiful, especially the locations where we shoot at times, but actually working in the industry is very very hard,” she adds.

She urges people to only join the profession only if they are passionate about their craft.

“So, if you are ready to work really hard and you really love the craft of acting then you should be here, not for any other reason because success, glamour, name, and fame come only when the audience loves you. The first and foremost thing is to work sincerely so you gain loyal fans for life,” she says.

The actress will be seen in the upcoming films “Bunty Aur Babli 2” and “Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway”.

Salma Hayek’s pet owl likes good wine

Hollywood star Salma Hayek sleeps with her pet owl whenever her husband François-Henri Pinault is away.

The actress adopted the southern white-faced owl named Kering two years ago, reports aceshowbiz.com.

She said: “I gave it (the owl) to my husband as Valentine’s present and named her Kering because that’s the name of his company and their symbol of the owl. And he was like, ‘Well, thank you, but I know this is your own present for yourself.'”

“When my husband is not in town, she sleeps in the room with me. We have certain routines before we go to sleep. I watch TV with my iPad, and she likes to stand on the iPad.”

Hayek also shared that Kering is more “curious” than most owls, and has an unusual but “good” sense of taste.

“Even though owls don’t drink liquids because they take everything from their prey, she likes good wine, this one. (She can often be found) on my head or my shoulder, my arms. Sometimes, when she is really close to me, I can feel her rubbing against me, which is really nice,” Salma said.

She added: “And I feel so blessed. Just being in the same room (with her), there’s an energy to it, and it is mesmerizing.”
