Tony Kakkar reveals in what way sister Neha Kakkar inspires him

Tony Kakkar has gained popularity by belting out foot-tapping numbers such as “Dheeme dheeme”, “Coca Cola”, “Kurta pajama” and “Shona Shona” among others. He says the endeavour is to make every track better and bigger than the last one, and also reveals how his sister, star singer Neha Kakkar, inspires him.

Tony, brother of singers Neha Kakkar and Sonu Kakkar, is once again topping the charts with his new track “Number likh”, with “Bigg Boss” star Nikki Tamboli. The song dropped last month and currently has over 46,370,460 views and 951K likes on YouTube.

On whether expectations add to pressure to come out with tracks that can outdo his previous hits, Tony told IANS: “It always pushes me to do better. The endeavour is to make every song better and bigger than the last one. It’s all about being true to your art, driving your uniqueness that sets you apart. As long as you’re honest about who you are inside out, the expectations only empower you more.”

The 37-year-old singer hails from Rishikesh. His family later shifted to Delhi in the1990s, where he along with his sisters Sonu and Neha sang at jagratas. It was in 2012 that he made his debut in Bollywood as a music director, with the film “Mr. Bhatti On Chutti”.

In less than a decade, life has changed courtesy hits such as “Car mein music bajaa”, “Das ki karaan”, “Bijli ki taar”, “Goa beach”, “Booty shake”, “Chocolate” and “Tera suit” among many more.

Looking back at his journey, Tony, who has often faced flak on social media over his repetitive lyrics, tags it as a “satisfying one”.

“It has been a satisfying one. That’s for sure. But it’s also about working hard and being open to growth — whatever shape it may take. That’s something that is inspired by Neha. She has a hit in almost every genre!” he said.

Tony currently enjoys a fan following of eight million on Instagram and 408K on Twitter.

Does he feel he is ruling the music industry now? He said with a laugh: “There are many ways to think about success. But what’s more valuable to us is to measure how we have grown. Everyone in the industry is kind and warm. It’s important to be humble and it’s important to be unique.”

Tony recently performed on the app MX Takatak, he says: “We hope to return again soon for a surprise with some of our musician friends. The opportunity for the fans to go live with their favourite musicians, interact with them and also perform with them — that’s new and I’ve never heard of anyone doing this.”

Anupam Kher: There are no shortcuts in acting

Veteran actor Anupam Kher says there are no shortcuts to becoming a good actor, and one has to work hard and keep practicing.

Offering a piece of advice for budding actors, Kher shared: “Acting has no syllabus, that’s why people come up with best performances even at the age of 80 or later. My advice to budding actors is that they have to practice their art constantly. It is something the more you practice, the better you will become. You have to work hard. It is every day’s job for them to keep understanding, and to do the same thing again and again.”

“Also, they have to develop a keen interest in people, because people, various people, are the bank of actors. The more they will know people, the more they will know emotion, the more they will know various aspects of anger, nine Rasas. So, I think that is what is important, and not to carry the burden of who you become. There are no shortcuts in acting,” he added.

On the work front, Kher features as an anchor in the recently released documentary film “Bhuj: The Day India Shook”.

Sharing his experience of being a part of the project, the actor said: “In a project like this, ‘not acting’ is the most important thing. You have to first understand the essence of it. You are like a ‘sutradhar’, a narrator who has a soul, who empathises with them, who does not indulge in self-pity. It is like when you do meditation, in a state of meditation you have to say things that people relate to. You can’t fake it.”

“It is something that comes with experience as a person, not necessarily as an actor. It comes from a word called empathy. That’s how I approached it with a total sense of purity. In my mind it was a tribute to all the people that suffered losses,” he further said.

Quizzed what intrigued him to take part in the documentary film, Kher replied: “It was easy to say that I want to do this Discovery project. It’s historically and geographically a very important incident, not only in India but anywhere in the world, speaks about how we are at the brink of any disaster happening, how life can be totally changed.”

“Bhuj: The Day India Shook” streams on the OTT platform Discovery+.

Shailene Woodley is in no rush to get married

“Big Little Lies” actress Shailene Woodley, who confirmed her engagement to National Football League (NFL) star Aaron Rodgers in February, says she is in no rush to get married.

“There’s no wedding planning happening. There’s no rush. We’ve got no rush,” Woodley told “Entertainment Tonight”, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

She said she jumped at the chance to work with director Augustine Frizzell in the film, because it was a project that appealed to her love of “love”.

She said: “I love love and I love Augustine. I had met Augustine a few months prior to reading the script and I really just fell in love with her entire being and what she was about and the way she saw the world and I thought she was just a really groovy, unique chick in this industry.”

“I got sent the script, because she was involved, and fell in love with the storyline and fell in love with specifically the two characters of Anthony and Jennifer because there’s such a deep intrinsic connection between the two of them, and it seems like life wanted them to stay apart. That’s how I got hooked,” the actress added.

Woodley had recently explained that she and Rodgers initially kept their romance out of the spotlight, but chose to confirm their engagement because they didn’t want someone else to do it for them.
