Armaan Malik opens up on what threatens our mental health

Singer Armaan Malik has opened up on the factors that he feels are responsible for threatening our mental health.

Armaan feels that we as a society have a habit of constantly judging others, which makes people afraid of expressing their feelings, which in turn leads to stress and anxiety. This poses a serious threat to our mental health.

“We live in a society where most of us refrain from voicing our thoughts or expressing our truest feelings about anything because other people will just judge, say something ugly and try to make your life miserable. Is this how we intend to go forward as humans?” Armaan tweeted from his verified account.

“And because some of us can’t voice our innermost feelings, these thoughts get bottled up and cause stress, anxiety and pose a serious threat to our mental health,” he added.

To do away with this problem, the singer suggested that we should lend an ear to others, which will help them to speak their heart out.

“Tbh some of us are part of the problem. Start by lending an ear to someone you know & allow them to speak their heart out. Initially, they will hesitate because they are so used to being judged for having spoken their truth in the past, but with careful persuasion, they will speak!” he wrote.

Reacting to his tweets, a fan of the singer asked if he is facing any problem personally.

To this, Armaan replied: “Nothing at all. I’m just speaking the truth. Every time I share something like this does not mean I am personally going through something. I just know that a lot of people resonate with this feeling and wanna help them feel better. That’s why better out there than in my head.”

Arnold Schwarzenegger: President Trump is a failed leader

Hollywood star Arnold Schwarzenegger has condemned the attack on the Capitol in the US and described Donald Trump as the worst president ever.

The former Governor of California also compared the mob that attacked the US Capitol to the Nazis. In a seven-minute video, which was posted on Schwarzenegger’s Twitter account late on Sunday, the actor compared the events to 1938’s Kristallnacht.

“As an immigrant to this country, I would like to say a few words to my fellow Americans, and to our friends around the world about the events of recent days. I grew up in Austria,” he began.

“I’m very aware of Kristallnacht, or the Night of Broken Glass. It was a night of rampage against the Jews carried out in 1938 by the Nazi equivalent of the Proud Boys. Wednesday was the Day of Broken Glass right here in the United States. The broken glass was in the windows of the United States Capitol. But the mob did not just shatter the windows of the Capitol, they shattered the ideas we took for granted,” he added.

The actor continued: “They did not just break down the doors of the building that housed American democracy; they trampled the very principles on which our country was founded. I grew up in the ruins of a country that suffered the loss of its democracy.

“I was born in 1947, two years after the Second World War. Growing up, I was surrounded by broken men drinking away the guilt over their participation in the evilest regime in history. Not all of them were rabid anti-Semites or Nazis, many just went along, step-by-step, down the road. They were the people next-door.”

“Now, I’ve never shared this so publicly because it is a painful memory. But my father would come home drunk once or twice a week and he would scream and hit us and scare my mother,” Schwarzenegger said.

“I didn’t hold him totally responsible because our neighbor was doing the same thing to his family, and so was the next neighbor over. I heard it with my ears and saw it with my own eyes,” the “Terminator” star said.

He recalled how his father and neighbors had been left troubled by their memories of war.

Schwarzenegger said: “It all started with lies, and lies, and lies and intolerance. Being from Europe I have seen firsthand how things can spin out of control. I know there is a fear in this country and all over the world that something like this could happen right here. Now, I do not believe it is, but I do believe that we must be aware of the dire consequences of selfishness and cynicism.

“President Trump sought to overturn the results of an election and of a fair election. “He sought a coup by misleading people with lies. My father and our neighbors were also misled with lies, and I know where such lies lead.

“President Trump is a failed leader. He will go down in history as the worst president ever. The good thing is he will soon be as irrelevant as an old tweet,” he said of the president.

He continued: “But what are we to make of those elected officials who have enabled his lies and his treachery? I will remind them of what Teddy Roosevelt said, ‘Patriotism means to stand by the country. It does not mean to stand by the president’. A number of members of my own party, because of their own spinelessness will never see their names in such a book, I guarantee you.

“They’re complicit with this who carried the flag of self-righteous insurrection into the Capitol. But it did not work. Our democracy held firm,” he added.

The actor feels it is a healing time now.

“We need to heal, together, from the drama of what has just happened. We need to heal, not as Republicans or as Democrats, but as Americans,” Schwarzenegger said, adding: “I believe, as shaken as we are about the events of recent days, we will come out stronger because we now understand what can be lost.”

He ended the video by wishing President-elect Joe Biden well.

“President-elect Biden, we stand with you today, tomorrow, and forever in defense of our democracy from those who would threaten it,” Schwarzenegger said.

Virat, Anushka blessed with a baby girl

Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli and his wife Anushka Sharma were on Monday blessed with a baby girl.

“We are thrilled to share with you that we have been blessed with a baby girl this afternoon. We thank you all for your love, prayers, and good wishes,” Kohli informed on Monday through a statement on his social media handles.

“Anushka and the baby are both healthy and we are feeling beyond blessed to start this new chapter of our lives. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time,” he added.

In August last year, the couple had shared the news that they were expecting a child. Taking to Instagram and sharing a picture, both of them had written: “And then, we were three! Arriving Jan 2021.”

Anushka and Kohli had tied the knot in December 2017 in Tuscany, Italy.

Kohli returned home from Australia after taking part in three ODIs, three T20Is, and the first Test of the ongoing four-match series.

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy is currently tied at 1-1, with the final Test slated to begin from Friday at The Gabba in Brisbane.

Kohli is expected to be seen in action next against England, who will be touring India for a full-fledged tour, comprising four Tests, five T20Is, and three ODIs, beginning February 5.

TV star Subuhii Joshii on her web debut: It was about time

TV star Subuhii Joshii enters the OTT space with the film titled Fariha, and she says this is the right time to make the digital move.

“I love television but I also know that web series and films are playgrounds for actors right now. As an artist, I have the urge and I feel it was about time I make my digital debut. Fariha seemed like an interesting story to do that,” Subuhii, who is known for her role of Poonam Maheshwari in Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai, says.

“Digitalisation is a great step and I am totally okay with it. In fact, I also want to do something on that platform, which fortunately I have started doing. I think it’s a great way to reach the masses,” she shares.

Subuhii is excited to be back in action after spending most of last year at home owing to lockdown. “2021 will be the year when I am going to focus completely on my work because I was not working for a long time. Basically, I was not doing things that I wanted to do. Since I have worked this year a lot on me, I want to do as many projects as I can,” she says.

However, the actress asserts while ambition is important, it should not come at the cost of one’s peace of mind.

“People forget that you should be content and happy with whatever you have, and I truly believe in that. I feel that one should chase success, fame, and money, but don’t miss out on the little things that make you happy because of that,” she says.

Pavitra Punia ‘overwhelmed’ to be back on ‘Baalveer Returns’ post ‘Bigg Boss’ sojourn

Actress Pavitra Punia is excited to join back the cast of Baalveer Returns. In the last quarter of 2020, Pavitra was locked away in the Bigg Boss 14 house as a contestant. She was subsequently evicted from the reality show and hence returns to the fantasy series.

“It feels amazing to come back to ‘Baalveer Returns’ as I am very well connected to the show, the set, cast, and the creators of ‘Baalveer Returns’ are like family. So, of course, coming back to one’s family is overwhelming and I am very excited to continue shooting for the show,” she said.

She will be back as Bhayrani Timnasa in the show.

“Since Timnasa is back in the show, it is bound to have more drama and adventure. This time Timnasa will not be defeated by Baalveer but will fight him, even stronger than before. But yes, this time the sequences and scenes will be packed with double power and the competition with Baalveer will be more exciting and dangerous,” she claimed.

“Baalveer Returns” airs on Sony SAB.
