Deepika Padukone: Journey has been nothing short of incredible

Bollywood star Deepika Padukone is thankful for the wishes she got on her 35th birthday recently. She says the journey has been nothing short of incredible.

Deepika, who celebrated her birthday on January 5, posted a video collage on Instagram, with a collage capturing her childhood days, modeling stint, debut as an actor, and marriage to Ranveer Singh among other events of her life.

“The journey has been nothing short of incredible…& for that, I’ve got my family, friends, and all of you to thank!” Deepika captioned the image.

The actress entered Bollywood with a double role in Farah Khan’s 2007 Diwali blockbuster “Om Shanti Om” starring Shah Rukh Khan.

Ranveer and Deepika reportedly started dating in 2012. The two have starred together in films such as “Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela”, “Bajirao Mastani” and “Padmaavat”. In 2018, the couple tied the knot in November at Lake Como, Italy.

Deepika has just concluded shooting Shakun Batra’s upcoming yet-untitled next. The film also stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Ananya Panday. She will also be seen in an untitled film with Amitabh Bachchan and Prabhas, and she appears in “83” starring hubby Ranveer.

Bigg Boss: Scenes chopped to sanitise image of certain stars?

A comment that shows host Salman Khan made on a recent Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 14 has made fans of the show sit up and wonder: Do the makers of the show chop portions of the drama in order to sanitize the image of certain contestants, particularly the ones who are or have been starring in other shows of Colors, the channel that airs the show?

It all happened when Salman decided to show the contestants what they have actually been up to in the house, at times perhaps without realizing. The first Weekend Ka Vaar of the year was all about showing the contestants that they were getting unduly mean to each other with every passing day.

Salman showed a clip of the time Jasmin Bhasin, Aly Goni, Rubina Dilaik, Abhinav Shukla, Nikki Tamboli, and Rahul Vaidya were enjoying making fun of Rakhi Sawant.

Then came his comment. With seething rage, Salman declared that they are not showing all of what these guys had actually done, else their image would have gone for a toss.

The biggest draw of a reality show is supposed to be the dose of reality that comes minus any alteration — more so in the case of Bigg Boss, which claims to thrive on the quirks of human psychology.

If what Salman says is indeed true, if bits are being chopped off to present housemates in a way that their image is compatible with their public image, then that raises a serious question on the veracity of ‘truth’ being shown on Bigg Boss.

A pertinent point to be taken into consideration here is that most of the celebrities who were considered to be on ‘the wrong side’ in this particular case, have been associated with several shows on the channel Colors.

Rubina has been the face of the popular show Shakti: Astitva Ke Ehsaas Ki for a long time. Jasmin has featured in Naagin and Dil Se Dil Tak, while Abhinav was seen as the antagonist in Silsila Badalte Rishton Ka. Aly was also seen in Naagin.

This is not the first time that Salman has spoken about altering footage to protect the image.

During the highly popular Bigg Boss 13, he had shared that the channel is not showing what all things Sidharth Shukla and Rashami Desai had been saying about each other to save themselves from tarnishing their image. Not to forget, Sidharth and Rashami were the faces of the channel’s popular show Dil Se Dil Tak.

Now, the question arises is that whose image is the channel trying to protect — the celebrities’ or their own?

Mehbooba as CM spent Rs 82L in 6 months; once Rs 28L a day: RTI

Mehbooba Mufti spent nearly Rs 82 lakh in six months from January to June 2018 on the refurbishment of her official residence in Srinagar’s Gupkar Road, when she was the Chief Minister of the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir. The expenditure was all paid by the Government of India, reveals an RTI response.

The RTI application filed by Jammu and Kashmir based activist, Inam-un-Nabi Soudagar, reveals that between January -June 2018, Mufti spent nearly Rs 82 lakh on bedsheets, furniture, TVs, and other items.

The RTI shows that on March 28, 2018, Mehbooba spent Rs 28 lakh in a single-day for buying carpets.

In June 2018 alone, she spent more than Rs 25 lakh on various items, including LED TVs worth Rs 22 lakh.

IANS accessed a copy of the RTI response dated September 1, 2020, which showed expenses worth Rs 14 lakh on January 30, 2017. The item included a garden umbrella worth Rs 2,94,314.

The RTI response further reveals that bedsheets worth Rs 11,62,000 were purchased on February 22, 2018.

In March 2018, Mufti spent nearly Rs 56 lakh, including Rs 25 lakh on furniture and nearly Rs 28 lakh on the carpets.

The purchases also involved cutlery items worth Rs 40 lakh in a period of two years, from August 2016 to July 2018.

The details come after the successful completion of recently held District Development Council elections in the union territory, which Mehbooba Mufti’s party Peoples Democratic Party had vowed to abandon until Jammu and Kashmir’s special status was restored.

However, Mufti’s party did contest the elections in which it managed to get only 27 out of 280 District Development Council seats.

Shilpa Shetty’s yoga tips to get back to grind after festive season

The Christmas and New Year vacation period is over, and actress Shilpa Shetty on Monday suggested a few yoga moves that can help one get back to the daily grind after the festive season.

Shilpa, also a yoga expert, suggested a deep breathing meditation that can help people fight stress and maintain a balance between calm and chaos.

The actress spent Christmas vacation in Goa with husband Raj Kundra, sister Shamita Shetty, mother Sunanda Shetty, and her children Viaan and Samisha.

“Changing gears and shifting back to a daily routine after the holiday season is never going to be easy. But, maintaining a healthy balance between calm & chaos is inexplicably crucial. This is an exercise I do religiously when I want to center myself,” Shilpa tweeted.

“Inhale and take a deep breath in, filled with positive thoughts and exhale all the negative thoughts/emotions into the universe as love and light. This meditation helps you focus on the things that need attention, centers, and gives you the ammunition to tackle the stress in your daily grind,” she added.

“Do this for a few minutes but unhindered, connect with the universe; and align your mind, body, and soul to prepare yourself for the day ahead. Start with just five minutes of deep breathing today. Tag a friend who needs to keep calm today,” Shilpa further suggested.

In 2021, the 45-year-old actress is all set to return to films after 13 years with two releases, “Hungama 2” and “Nikamma”.
