Divya Agarwal: Ekta Kapoor has been a true cheerleader

Divya Agarwal, currently seen in ‘Bigg Boss OTT’, will be portraying a mysterious character in the upcoming action-drama ‘Cartel’. She reveals about being lauded by television czarina Ekta Kapoor.

“Ekta Kapoor ma’am has been a true cheerleader for me. She has believed in me and has always encouraged me to push the envelope. When she shared the first ‘Cartel’ Instagram story about me, I was overwhelmed and had tears of joy. She was proud of my work,” shares Divya.

When asked about being a part of ‘Cartel’, she adds: “Honestly, this series will be a game-changer for me. I like to be recognised for the characters that I play in my life. I have taken a lot of time and effort along with such a humongous team who worked to bring this masterpiece to the audience. I would say that this will definitely position me as an actor in the industry as the makers of the show brought the best out of me.”

‘Cartel’ is set in present-day Mumbai and the story revolves around five crime lords. The show features Supriya Pathak, Tanuj Virwani, Jitendra Joshi, Rithvik Dhanjani, Pranati Rai Prakash, Divya Agarwal, Girija Oak Godbole and others.

‘Cartel’ will be streaming from August 20 on ALTBalaji and MX Player Gold.

Siddharth Shukla, Shehnaaz Gill set to enter ‘Bigg Boss OTT’ on weekend

Popular ‘Bigg Boss 13’ couple Siddharth Shukla and Shehnaaz Gill, who are fondly called as “SidNaaz” by their fans, are all set to step into the ‘Bigg Boss OTT’ house over the weekend.

The couple will not just spend time with the contestants but will also have a brief interaction with the show’s witty host and Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar.

“It will be really interesting to see this romantic jodi enter ‘Bigg Boss OTT’ specially with the new format and the theme – stay connected,” a source close to the couple said.

The source added: “SidNaaz have made a great connection inside this house and it will be exciting to see their interaction with other contestants and Jodis in the house. This weekend will surely be amazing.”

‘Bigg Boss OTT’ airs on Voot Select. Karan is anchoring the digital version.

After the completion of the digital exclusive, the show will move to Colors with the launch of Season 15 of ‘Bigg Boss’ hosted by actor Salman Khan.

When ‘Thala’ Dhoni met Thalapathy Vijay, pictures break Internet

It couldn’t have been a bigger OMG moment for fans of Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay when they saw him together with star cricketer and Chennai Super Kings skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni in pictures that went viral on Thursday. The two met here at Gokulam Studios.

Vijay is shooting for his upcoming Tamil action film ‘Beast’ at Gokulam and Dhoni for an ad commercial. The pictures of the two in one frame got their fans into a tizzy. The two celebrities had earlier collaborated when Vijay was named the brand ambassador of the Chennai Super Kings.

The team of ‘Beast’, produced by Sun Films and written and directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, are all set to fly to Europe for their next round of shooting. The film’s lead female character is being played by Pooja Hegde.

Salman Khan meets Olympic medallist Mirabai Chanu

Actor Salman Khan uploaded a picture of his meeting with Olympic silver medallist Mirabai Chanu on his social media account on Wednesday.

The actor uploaded a picture with Mirabai, who won a silver medal for India in the 49 kg catagory in women’s weightlifting.

Salman captioned the image as: “Happy for u silver medalist @mirabai_chanu … lovely meeting with u…best wishes always!”

Mirabai reposted the tweet and wrote: “Thank you so much. @BeingSalmanKhan sir. I am a big fan of you and it was like a dream come true for me.”

Mirabai had also met cricketer Sachin Tendulkar and posted a picture with him on Wednesday.

Reese Witherspoon was ‘completely obsessed’ with Drew Barrymore

Actress Reese Witherspoon has revealed that she was completely obsessed and was a “super fan” of actress Drew Barrymore.

Witherspoon spilled the beans on ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’, where the ’50 First Dates’ actress asked her: “I thought we were 13. Then, I realised if you had done ‘Man On The Moon’, so you must have been 14, right?”

Witherspoon replied: “I was 14 years old; I was completely obsessed with you. You had no idea that I was like your super fan. I had read your book, I had pictures of you on my wall. You were like my childhood acting idol, and you came up to me in a restaurant and you said, ‘I saw you in a movie and you were so wonderful’.”

The ‘Legally Blonde’ actress said that it changed her whole perspective.

“You were one of the first people who ever supported me and showed me, it doesn’t have to be competitive, that creativity is infinite and if we can collaborate as women together, we can accomplish so much more,” Witherspoon said on the show, which airs on Zee Cafe in India.

Ali Fazal: Present generation relates with films that portray flawed people on screen

Actor Ali Fazal believes that today the narratives of vulnerability have taken the spotlight and are thoroughly enjoyed by this generation of audience. He says the present generation resonate with films that portray real, flawed, vulnerable people on screen as it creates a human connection.

Ali said: “It is a great time to be producing art as there are no fine lines between various genres and today’s audience is finally accepting cinema that showcases the harsh realities of the contemporary world.”

For the actor, it’s essential to be a part of cinema which speaks to its audience and is not starkly black or white. His latest, “Forget Me Not”, one of the four stories in the anthology “Ray” encompassed the same sentiment.

“The present generation has inherited qualities of empathy and adaptability from its predecessors and at the same time are liberal, most diverse and connected. They resonate with films that portray real, flawed, vulnerable people on screen as it creates a human connection,” he said.

Ali added: “Cinema has become an indelible part of the collective consciousness of the present generation and stories, when presented with justice, creates engaging content on screen.”

Siddhant More has no regrets about rejecting projects for Bollywood dream

Marathi actor Siddhant More is on a break from regional cinema to commit himself further towards his big Bollywood dream.

The actor doesn’t mind not taking up anything else as long as his focus remains on Hindi cinema.

Explaining the reasons behind this feeling, Siddhant said: “After the success of my (Marathi) film ‘Shiva – Ek Yuva Yoddha’, I was offered some good scripts. But I didn’t go ahead with them and kept moving towards doing a Bollywood film. It is my childhood dream to be a Bollywood actor. And for this I have ignored many Hindi television shows too, but I have no regrets.”

Siddhant, who started his career as a model, is glad to get recognition from his debut film.

“I was always into modeling and bodybuilding. Being in shape has been my passion since childhood. I started taking up commercials which helped me become camera-friendly. When I was offered Marathi film, I jumped at the opportunity. The recognition that I got will only help me grow as an actor,” he said.

Surgery sucessful, will be back soon: Prakash Raj

Actor Prakash Raj, who was rushed to the hospital on Tuesday after sustaining an injury, said on Wednesday that his health is better and he will be back in action soon.

The actor took to Twitter to post a health update for his fans.

Posting a picture from his hospital bed, the actor said: “The devil is back… successful surgery… thank you dear friend Dr #guruvareddy and thank you all for your love n prayers.. back in action soon.”

On Tuesday, the actor had sustained a small fracture after he suffered a fall following which he was admitted to a hospital in Hyderabad.

The senior actor is known to dabble between multiple language industries and is popular with his body of work.

The actor was recently seen in the Tamil anthology “Navarasa”.

Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas’s biopic on Nageswara Rao titled ‘Stuartpuram Donga’

Telugu actor Bellamkonda Sai Sreenivas will soon be seen playing the lead in the biopic of Tiger Nageswara Rao. The film has been announced with the title ‘Stuartpuram Donga’.

Nageswara Rao was known as the notorious and courageous thief of Stuartpuram in the 1970s.

The life and times of Nageswara Rao, known for his smart way of escape from police and prison too, will come alive on the big screen. In fact, it was one such escape from a Chennai jail that gave him the moniker of ‘Tiger’. The infamous robber was finally shot dead by the police in 1987.

According to the film’s production team, a strong script has been prepared and all the required commercial ingredients are included in the right proportions. Vennelakanti Brothers are the writers for the film. Since the story is set in the 70s and 80s, popular technicians are zeroed in to be part of this high-budget entertainer.

The film will be directed by KS and produced by Bellamkonda Suresh.

Melody Brahma Mani Sharma will score the music. Shyam K Naidu handles the camera, while Thammiraju is the editor and AS Prakash is the art director.

Meanwhile Bellamkonda is busy wrapping up the shoot of his Bollywood debut. He will be seen in the Hindi remake of Telugu film ‘Chatrapathi’, which is directed by VV Vinayak. The shooting of the film is taking place here.

Kunal Singh to play Ankita Lokhande’s on-screen love interest

Actor Kunal Singh who was seen as an antagonist in television show ‘Naagin: Bhagya Ka Zehreela Khel’ will now appear in Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Pavitra Rishta 2’. The actor will be in a cameo role portraying actress Ankita Lokhande’s on-screen love interest.

He says: “I am playing Archana’s (Ankita) boyfriend ‘Gaurav’. It’s a cameo but till the time I am in the show, I have got a very good screen presence. I feel blessed to be part of most loved show. And sharing screen space with popular actors like Ankita, Usha Nadkarni ma’am and Shaheer Sheikh is just like another opportunity.”

Kunal is also known for his role of ‘Sharavan Suryavanshi’ in the show ‘Saath Nibhana Saathiya’. He feels like a homecoming on getting an opportunity to work again with Ekta Kapoor.

“Working with Ekta ma’am is any actors’ dream. And I am lucky enough to have got this chance for second time after ‘Naagin’. It’s just homecoming for me. The productions treat each talent and unit on set as a family,” he wraps up.
