Tahir Raj Bhasin: It’s disorienting to see Mumbai shut

Bollywood actor Tahir Raj Bhasin is finally back in the city after three months and has resumed work. He has started dubbing for his forthcoming release “Looop Lapeta”. The actor says it is disorienting to see a bustling city as Mumbai shut down, and the film industry paralyzed, as it happened during the Pandemic.

“It really feels great to be back in Mumbai and start working after the country was engulfed in the deadly second wave. Mumbai has a very different energy and I have loved every bit of my time here. It is a city that has given me wind beneath my wings to aspire and soar creatively,” says Tahir.

He adds: “I have started dubbing for ‘Loop Lapeta’. As soon as I finish this, I will be starting work on a new project that I’m supremely excited about. I have been finishing my brand commitments before I dive into my film commitments.”

Tahir says he felt disoriented when shooting was paused in Mumbai. “This is a city of dreams and it’s always on, every second of the day. That’s the charm of Mumbai. So, it’s disorienting to see it shut, for the film industry to be paralyzed and for people to not have work,” he said.

Karenvir Bohra, Sanjay Mishra starrer ‘Kutub Minar’ gets mention at Berlin Indie film fest

The Karenvir Bohra and Sanjay Mishra-starrer film “Kutub Minar” has got a special mention for Best Feature Film at The Berlin Indie Film Festival (BIFF) 2021.

“At the Film Festival when they saw it, they were surprised to see such a bold concept but still a slice of life kind of movie. It really came as a dream to us when the Berlin Indie Film Festival emailed saying you can download your certificate of victory. We thought this email would state ‘thank you for participating, better luck next time because you don’t really expect your film to be appreciated at the global level. But this time it happened to us and Kutub Minar was chosen amongst all the movies in Asia,” Karenvir said.

Directed by Raaj Aashoo, the film narrates the story of a remarkable father-son duo, where the latter suffers from a rare condition of having an abnormally large reproductive organ, called macro-phallus.

Talking about his experience working on the film, Karenvir shared: “Kutub Minar was one of the scariest as well as the most exhilarating experience. Scary, because I think this was one of the first movies that were shot during the pandemic. We shot in September 2020 and had to contain ourselves in one place during the whole shoot. It was exhilarating because it was a very challenging and bold subject and it is a completely different look for me to physically and mentally prepare to play a character like this.”

The film, produced by Pancham Singh, also features Minissha Lamba and Tridha Choudhary in key roles.

Satyajeet Dubey completes decade ‘of rewards but also a lot of setbacks’

Actor Satyajeet Dubey has completed 10 years in the Hindi film industry. He says he looks back at his decade with satisfaction, though there have also been setbacks and disappointments.

Satyajeet started his acting career with “Always Kabhi Kabhi” which was produced by Shah Rukh Khan. The film was directed by Roshan Abbas.

The actor said: “On 17 June 2011 my debut ‘Always Kabhi Kabhi’ released and it’s been quite a ride so far. Grateful to the core for everything and far away from even an ounce of satisfaction. The unquenchable thirst, the insatiable hunger for what I do to feed my heart and soul and fortunately also for my living keeps on growing by every passing day.”

He added: “No one tells a young actor that not everything will work out. When you’re younger you have this belief everything will go well. But then an industry like ours makes us realize that it isn’t always that way.”

“Not every two actors will have the same experiences. I have faced a decade of gratifications, rewards, but also a lot of setbacks and disappointments,” he said.

“It’s now after a decade I finally feel like I’m getting the work I truly have always craved for. Not discrediting the work I have done so far, but now I feel it’s all coming together. I have two major series lined up, something that took a long but has happened finally. So, I guess patience is really a virtue you need to master here,” he said.

Satyajeet believes working on a show like “Mumbai Diaries” made him realize he was glad that he stuck around, made peace with all the rejections. “Now it seems like it’s paying off,” he concluded.

India may stick to their XI after rains, says fielding coach

India is looking to stick to the playing XI they announced on Thursday for the World Test Championship final against New Zealand even though they have an option to change it before the toss takes place.

The first day’s play was washed out and the toss will take place on the second day if rain relents.

“I think the XI which has been announced is the XI that takes the pitch and conditions out of the equation. I think it is an XI that can play and perform on any given surface and in any given weather conditions. So that is what I believe this XI is all about which we have put on the park,” India’s fielding coach R Sridhar told the media on Friday. New Zealand is yet to name their XI.
