Randeep Hooda slammed for joke on Mayawati as old video goes viral

Actor Randeep Hooda has been facing flak online for an allegedly casteist and sexist joke he shared using the name of Bahujan Samaj Party President Mayawati in an old video that has gone viral.

The video did not go down well with a section of netizens who have called the actor’s behavior “casteist”, “sexist” and also demanded an apology.

Sharing the video, a user tweeted: “If this does not explain how casteist and sexist this society is, especially towards Dalit women, I don’t know what will. the ‘joke’, the audacity, the crowd. Randeep Hooda, a top Bollywood actor talking about a Dalit woman, who has been the voice of the oppressed.”

“@RandeepHooda This shows how sexist, casteist, and foolish you are!! #Casteist_Termites #Casteism #sexism,” wrote another user.

“Mr. Randeep Hooda will pay for this, Indian audience would not forgive him, I as an obc person strongly condemn his remarks,” posted another user.

“@RandeepHooda Miss Mayawati is considered “behan” by most of the Dalit population of UP. She is not just a politician, a Dalit icon too. Anyway, it is a very sexist and misogynistic comment. Suppose anyone saying this to your sister? Apologies,” expressed another user.

“It took me a while to understand this, and I realized that We are still living in such a feeble society. How casteist, misogynistic & sexist slur was that. @RandeepHooda. Praising her strength in politics against all of her odds wouldn’t have caused you any harm,” wrote another user.

On the work front, Randeep Hooda features alongside Salman Khan in “Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai”, which dropped digitally on Eid.

In a video clip she has uploaded, Sunny brings alive her favorite emojis by acting them out before the camera.

Sunny is currently in Kerala shooting the upcoming psychological thriller film “Shero”. The film is directed by Sreejith Vijayan and is scheduled to be released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam.

Actress Tamannaah Bhatia feels the star culture is changing rapidly after the boom in the digital space.

Tamannaah has been one of the biggest names in the Tamil and Telugu industries for well over a decade and has also acted in Bollywood and Kannada films. After tasting success on the big screen, she has now forayed the digital space. This year, she was seen in the web series “The 11th Hour” and, more recently, “November Story”.

She doesn’t feel the need to choose between the two mediums, of course. “There is nothing to choose from because at least in my case I get to have both. I just feel that the fan the following one could have amassed, say, 10 years ago will be tricky for the generation today, because with the situation we are in, owing to the pandemic, emotions around films are different. The way cinema is viewed is going to be different,” Tamannaah told IANS.

“So, the whole idea of a star itself is changing very rapidly, and people are watching content and liking content for the content and not just for an individual actor or individual talent,” she added.

Tamannaah feels fortunate that she amassed a loyal fanbase through cinema. “I think the idea of stardom I saw 10 years ago was probably the most organic way of developing a loyal fan following, which I have been fortunate to experience,” she said.

Talking about her new show, the crime thriller “November Story”, the actress says it’s not every day when one gets a character that has a detailed emotion graph.

“I have never been a part of a crime thriller before. So, the genre for me is new and it got me to explore primarily a father-daughter relationship. There were many angles to this as to why it became unique and new for me, and it was literally like keeping the tension going through the show in every scene. It was challenging and I had never done that in my career,” she said, about the seven-episode whodunit that also features Pasupathy, GM Kumar, Aruldass, and Vivek Prasanna, and airs on Disney+ Hotstar VIP.

Tusshar Kapoor: My parents indulge my son the most

Like in any other household, actor Tusshar Kapoor says even in his house it is his parents who indulge his son Laksshya the most. Laksshya will turn five in June and it seems he loves dancing — just like his grandfather, yesteryears dancing superstar Jeetendra.

“I have danced with him and he has done a good job in the videos that I have done with him. He dances with whoever he feels comfortable with. The ones who indulge him the most are my parents. The grandparents always indulge the kids the most, in every family,” he told IANS, about the affection Laksshya gets from his parents, actor Jeetendra and producer Shobha Kapoor.

He adds: “My son loves to dance and sing because of all that they do in school. He was a bit shy initially but he has opened up. He enjoys dancing and is in touch with that side of his personality. I like that he loves indulging in the arts. I don’t know if he will become an actor eventually, but he definitely will become a well-balanced, well-rounded student for sure. He has excelled academically and takes active participation in physical education, dance, and music.”

However, his classmates are his favorite dancing partners, says Tusshar.

“He dances more with his friends from school, even when they are dancing online in their homes. He likes dancing if we have to shoot a homework video,” he says.

The actor adds that Laksshya is yet to see his films.

“My son hasn’t started seeing my films as yet and will probably start soon. He has his own favorites like the ‘Avengers’ and cartoons and he likes Mickey Mouse cartoons and different YouTube videos that are interesting and intelligent for kids. I have not introduced him to Bollywood yet,” he says.

Meanwhile, the actor recently completed two decades in the industry. Talking about his journey, he says: “The two decades been like a rollercoaster. I have learnt a lot, achieved a lot, lots of hard work, and learning. I can write a book on my last two decades. It has been rewarding and helped me grow as a human being. Made me stronger and work harder. I want to be in the industry all my life and that goes to show that the last two decades have made me a happier person.”

Actor Sidharth Shukla’s character Agastya in the upcoming web series “Broken But Beautiful 3” is a complicated man stuck between love and everything that comes with it. It is a character, the actor says, he could relate to on a personal level.

“As an actor, there are some who look towards method acting. For me, I could relate to Agastya and I feel life is all about experiences. It’s those experiences that make you. I have had many similar experiences and hence I reflected to mine and I performed,” said Sidharth.

“Broken But Beautiful 3” is the third season in the popular franchise produced by Ekta Kapoor. The show will stream on May 29.

Sidharth is known for his roles in fiction soaps such as “Balika Vadhu” and “Dil Se Dil Tak”, and reality shows such as “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6”, “Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi” and “Bigg Boss 13”.

Shilpa Shetty returns as judge on ‘Super Dancer 4’

Shilpa Shetty Kundra is back as a judge on the dance reality show “Super Dancer: Chapter 4”. The actress was on a break after her family tested positive for Covid-19 a while back.

“I’m happy to be back on the sets of ‘Super Dancer 4’. These kids and the entire crew are all my family and I definitely missed them. I’m finally back and we are having a blast. It’s an honor for me to be here and watch these incredibly talented bunch of boys and girls,” she says.

She was accompanied by her “Dhadkan” co-actor Suniel Shetty on the shoot.

The actress had informed on social media that her husband Raj Kundra, children — Viaan and Samisha –, as well as in-laws, had tested positive for Covid earlier this month. She had put all projects on hold and actress Malaika Arora Khan had filled in for her on the show.

Once her family recovered, Shilpa had posted a video of her house being sanitized on Instagram.

Madhuri expressed her opinion recently while interacting with her fans, where her fan club created #MadznessAwards. These are awards created using matchboxes and presented to her as a memento. The categories of the awards were decided based on fan votes.

During the interaction, Chopra’s “Dil Toh Pagal Hai” was declared Best Film, Best Music and Best Director awards.

“Yashji was a very progressive director and he always kept up with times. His films like ‘Deewaar’, ‘Daag’, ‘Kala Patthar’ and many more are all very progressive. Even women characters were very progressive and played an important part in his films,” said Madhuri.

She added: “When I got the opportunity to work with him, I heard the script and fell in love with him. The film was about love and how this girl believes she will meet her soulmate, which is exactly what I used to think and the same happened to me when I met Shriram Nene.”

Madhuri said as a producer and director Yash Chopra was “very professional”.

“What I liked most about him was he would let the artistes free to do their bit. He would not give directions on how to act, he would just give an outline and let the actors enact, and whatever came out was very natural, which reflected in his films,” she said.

While on #MadznessAwards, the special event involved fans residing abroad in countries like Mauritius, South Africa, Singapore, USA, Indonesia as well as in parts of India like Jharkhand, Rajkot, Chhindwara, Pune and Mumbai.

‘Money Heist’ to end in 2 instalments of 5 episodes each on Sep 3 and Dec 3

The globally popular Spanish web series “Money Heist” is all set to come to an end in two instalments of five episodes each. Volume 1 of the finale will release on September 3 while Volume 2 drops on December 3 this year, according to an announcement that was launched with a teaser on Monday.

So far, there have been four Parts to the show. While Parts 1 and 2 released in 2017, Parts 3 and 4 dropped in 2019-2020.

“When we began to write Part 5 in the midst of the pandemic, we felt we had to change what was expected from the 10-episode season and used every tool we could, to create the sensation of a season finale or series finale in the first volume itself. We decided to work in an extremely aggressive genre, putting The Gang on the ropes,” said creator of the series, Alex Pina.

“In Volume 2, we focus more on the emotional situation of the characters. It is a journey across their sentimental map that connects us directly to their departure,” he added.

Originally titled “La Casa de Papel” (The House Of Paper), the Netflix series stars UIrsula Corbero, Alvaro Morte, Itziar Ituno, Pedro Alonso, Paco Tous, Alba Flores, Miguel Herran, Jaime Lorente, Esther Acebo, Enrique Arce, Maria Pedraza, Darko Peric and Kiti Manver among others.

Singer Sona Mohapatra took to social media on Monday to open up on how all her savings went into making her documentary film “Shut Up Sona” just before the pandemic, and the ensuing lockdown has left her with no means of income.

“Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.. making happy whenever I can. My film #ShutUpSona is yet traveling to places around the world & winning festivals. All my savings went into this film, just before the pandemic broke & stopped us in our tracks with no means of income,” Sona tweeted.

In a separate tweet, the singer also announced that her documentary film has been nominated in the category of “Best Documentary” at the New York Indian Film Festival 2022.
