Ayushmann Khurrana to son: Nurture the artiste within

Bollywood star Ayushmann Khurrana posted birthday wishes for son Virajveer on Saturday, telling him to nurture the artiste within and saying he sees his reflection in the child.

The actor shared a photograph of his son on his verified Instagram account, which captures the boy playing the guitar.

“Happy birthday son! I see my reflection in you. You are your own person. Mostly lost in your thoughts. You love your music. I remember you watching and admiring the moon all alone on New Year’s Eve while the other kids were running around the bonfire. Nurture the artist within, coz artistes are humane,” Ayushmann wrote.

The actor recently wrapped up the shoot of his upcoming film “Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui”, shot in his hometown Chandigarh. The love story directed by Abhishek Kapoor co-stars Vaani Kapoor and was shot in Chandigarh over just 48 days amid the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Ayushmann recently announced his next film, a campus comedy-drama titled Doctor G. The film will be directed by Anubhuti Kashyap.

Armaan Malik feels life is not ‘as exciting as it was when we were kids’

Life is not as exciting now as it was in childhood, 25-year-old singer Armaan Malik tweeted on Saturday.

“Nothing is as exciting as it was when we were kids. Does anyone feel that?” Armaan expressed on his verified Twitter account. Fans on social media agreed with his post in the comment section.

“Yes, @ArmaanMalik22 … the unknown, the innocence of childhood makes everything more exciting! Unless your new song is coming out, and your teasing begins! Happy New Year!” wrote a user.

“Yes, why do we grow up so fast? Can we again live life like we used to live when we kid? Can we smile in every small enjoyment that we think is nothing? Can we just greet everyone like we used to do? Can we be happy in small things like the infants do? Can we?” asked a fan.

“Everything really was more colorful when we were kids, we were happy for no reason and now we’re just sad for no reason sometimes. Life is just so weird. I really wish I could go back to the time when we were kids and everything was great,” observed another user.

In a tweet posted on Friday, Armaan had reminded his fans to count their blessings. “You will be blessed the moment you realize you already are. Happy new year everybody #HappyNewYear2021,” he wrote.

The singer also informed me a few days ago that he can’t wait to show his fans what he has in store for them in the new year.

SRK: See you all on the big screen in 2021

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan announced in a video message on Saturday that he will be back on the big screen in 2021, and wished fans a belated happy new year.

Shah Rukh, however, did not divulge details about his comeback project in the message, posted on Instagram and Twitter.

“Hi everybody, it is that time of the year again where the old year is on its way out and the New Year is waiting at the entrance. Actually, it has entered because I am late in conveying my wishes to all of you,” he said in the three-minute video.

“I am sure 2020 has been the worst of years for everybody. In these awful times, for most, it is difficult to find a ray of hope and positivity. But I have a way of looking at bad days, difficult times, and awful years. I believe when one is at the lowest, at the most bottom-est of their life, the good thing is there is only one way to move — upwards, higher to better places.

“So, 2020 whatever it has been being in the past now. 2021 is going to be bigger, better, brighter, and more beautiful,” he added.

With trademark humor, Shah Rukh noted that he is late in wishing everyone on New Year because his team was not available, and it took him a long time to edit the video by himself.

“2020 has taught us one thing. That real fun is with real people. Your family, your friends, your loved ones, and all the friends and enemies you make virtually. Taking sides and fighting online is good fun, timepass but it is not for keeps.

“So, here’s wishing you all in 2021 a lot of happiness, joy, and peace. Do I sound like some cheap greeting card? So let me add some tax-paid cash too. So that your dreams and bills are fulfilled,” he shared.

The superstar continued: “This year be romantic, empathic, pragmatic, democratic, and be absolutely fantastic. Just don’t be a mathematician, it is boring and difficult to rhyme with other words. Go party hard, but not too hard, in moderation. Don’t get too drunk, don’t take off your clothes and run on the street, because chances are you’ll get arrested and even worse you will wake up in the morning and realize you have lost your phone and that really sucks.”

He concluded, saying: “See you all on the big screen in 2021”.

Shah Rukh was last seen on the big screen in Aanand L Rai’s 2018 film “Zero”, which was a flop. He is rumored to be working on a mega project, “Pathan”. The film also reportedly stars John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Dimple Kapadia, and will reportedly feature a cameo by Salman Khan.

Kangana on charges of merging flats: Will fight in higher court

Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut on Saturday tweeted a denial to a news piece reporting that she has allegedly merged three flats into one, which she owns on the fifth floor of a 16-story building in the Khar area of the city.

The actress claimed in a tweet that the building has been constructed in a way that there is one apartment on each floor, and it was like this when she purchased it. The actress in turn alleged that the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) is harassing her and she also took a dig at the Shiv Sena government.

“Fake propaganda by Mahavinashkari government, I haven’t joined any flats, the whole building is built the same way, one apartment each floor, that’s how I purchased it, @mybmc is only harassing me in the entire building. Will fight in the higher court,” Kangana wrote on Twitter.

In September last year, the BMC had demolished parts of Kangana’s office located in Bandra citing illegal construction. The demolition work was stopped midway after a stay order from Bombay High Court on September 9.

Isla Fisher: Don’t pin my hopes on anything

Hollywood star Isla Fisher says she likes her life to be an open book, and not pin hopes on anything.

“I try to sort of keep life as an open book and not really pin my hopes on anything. I don’t know if that’s healthy or not. I’ve just been like that since I was a kid,” Fisher said.

“So, I’ve always been incredibly surprised that I’m employed, married, have a wonderful family. Everything feels like a bonus for me. It is nice to have goals and equally nice to let life and situations in life guide you into new beginnings or openings that you might not have envisioned for yourself, and push you out of your comfort zone by being open to doing something potentially that wasn’t necessarily in your wheelhouse,” added the actress.

Fisher currently stars in the fantasy comedy “Godmothered”, a film that tries giving a spin to several fairytale cliches. She is seen as a single mother whose life takes an unexpected turn with the entry of a young and fairly inexperienced fairy godmother played by Jillian Bell.

“Godmothered” also stars Santiago Cabrera, Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Jane Curtin, June Squibb, Jillian Shea Spaeder, Willa Skye, Artemis Pebdani, and Utkarsh Ambudkar. The film streams on Disney+ Hotstar Premium in India.

Alia Bhatt is ready to face ‘whatever lies ahead’ in 2021

Amid speculations of her engagement with actor Ranbir Kapoor, Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt on Thursday expressed that she is ready to face whatever lies ahead of her in the year coming up.

Alia shared a photograph on her verified Instagram account where she can be seen standing near a bonfire with a drink in her hand. The actress wears a short red dress with a long shrug, a woollen cap, and knee-high boots.

Incidentally, it is not Alia but the person sitting next to her who has caught the attention of a section of netizens. In the picture, a man is sitting near the bonfire next to Alia, who netizens feel is her rumored beau Ranbir Kapoor. However, the photo has been cropped in a way that the man’s face cannot be seen.

“RK is next to her,” commented a user.

“So nicely you cropped Ranbir,” wrote another user.

Rumored lovebirds Alia and Ranbir are currently holidaying in the exotic resort Aman-i-Khas, near Ranthambore National Park in Sawai Madhopur, where they plan to usher in 2021.

Alia’s mother Soni Razdan, Ranbir’s mother Neetu Kapoor, and sister Riddhima Kapoor Sahni are also with them.

Incidentally, Bollywood couple Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are staying at the same resort to celebrate the New Year.

Class of ’21: Bollywood debutants coming up in new year

None of the high-profile Bollywood launches in 2020 happened to owe to the pandemic, so several aspiring actors are looking forward to the year that is coming up. A mix of star kids and outsiders are scheduled to enter Bollywood over the next 12 months.

IANS takes a look at the names who will most likely create waves:

Vijay Deverakonda:

The Telugu superstar, who gained all-India popularity with his 2017 Telugu blockbuster “Arjun Reddy”, will be seen alongside Ananya Panday in Dharma Productions’ upcoming film directed by Puri Jagannadh. Promoted as a pan-India film, the project is aimed at showcasing Deverakonda as all-India star material.

Ahan Shetty:

Action hero Suniel Shetty’s son Ahan is all set to hit the big screen opposite the “Student Of The Year 2” actress Tara Sutaria in “Tadap”. The announcement of the Milan Luthria directorial was made last year. The film is a remake of the 2018 Telugu romantic drama “RX 100” which became a big hit.

Manushi Chhillar:

She brought home the Miss World crown in 2017 and is now all set to debut in Bollywood with the period drama “Prithviraj”, starring Akshay Kumar in the title role of the warrior king Prithviraj Chauhan. Manushi plays Prithivraj’s lover Sanyogita. The Yash Raj Films historical, directed by Chandraprakash Dwivedi, was initially eyeing a Diwali 2020 release but had to be pushed back owing to the pandemic.

Rashmika Mandanna:

Rashmika is an actress in the Telugu and Kannada film industries and has done a Tamil film, too. She makes her Bollywood debut with “Mission Majnu” opposite Sidharth Malhotra. The espionage thriller, directed by Shantanu Bagchi, is inspired by a true story set in the 1970s. There are reports that she has bagged another Bollywood film that stars Amitabh Bachchan.

Namashi Chakraborty:

Early stills of his debut film “Bad Boy” drew comparisons with the handsome features of his father, yesteryears’ superstar Mithun Chakraborty. The youngster is ready to take on all the comparisons and is excited about the romantic comedy film directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Namashi describes his debut feature as a “fun and youthful film”. He is paired with debutant Amrin Qureshi, daughter of Sajid Qureshi, who is the producer of the film.

Rinzing Denzongpa:

Son of veteran actor Danny Denzongpa, Rinzing will show his action avatar in “Squad”. His debut film has also been delayed due to the pandemic. He has been cast opposite Malvika, who is the niece of veteran actress Anita Raaj. Many would remember Malvika as the young Pooja, or Poo in Karan Johar’s 2001 directorial “Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham”.

Pashmina Roshan:

The daughter of composer Rajesh Roshan is yet to make an official announcement about her Bollywood debut, but there have been rumors. What added fuel was her cousin, actor Hrithik Roshan, sharing social media posts about her and writing positive words like “Proud of you Pashmina” on Instagram.

Ileana D’Cruz shares her definition of strength

Bollywood actress Ileana D’Cruz has shared what she believes is the definition of strength.

“Strength isn’t always just a big dramatic show of bravado. It isn’t always a long monologue filled with inspirational words and hard-hitting truths. Sometimes it’s just uncurling yourself up from that ball of tears and lost confusion, cleaning yourself up, and stepping out into the world again,” the actress shared on her verified Instagram account.

On the work front, Ileana is all set to star in Unfair N Lovely, a comic take on India’s obsession with fair skin.

Set in the backdrop of Haryana, the film chronicles the story of a dusky girl and will feature Ileana D’Cruz opposite Randeep Hooda. The film marks the directorial debut of screenplay writer Balwinder Singh Janjua.
