Revanth Reddy Directs Officials to Build Indiramma Houses Near Residential Areas
Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has instructed officials to ensure that Indiramma Houses under the CURE (Comprehensive Urban Renewal and Expansion) project are constructed close to residential areas and beneficiaries’ workplaces instead of being located on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
During a high-level review meeting held on Friday (July 24), the Chief Minister directed officials to immediately identify vacant and unused government land within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits. He asked departments such as Police, Revenue, and Transport to make available suitable land for the housing project, with alternative land to be allotted to those departments wherever required.
Revanth Reddy emphasized that building houses far away from populated areas could affect the livelihoods of beneficiaries. He said people may lose access to employment opportunities if housing colonies are located far from their workplaces, reducing the effectiveness of the welfare scheme.
Under the government’s plan, each Indiramma House will have a built-up area of approximately 528 square feet, with a 400-square-foot carpet area. The estimated construction cost of each flat is around ₹11 lakh, of which the government will provide a ₹5 lakh subsidy, while beneficiaries will contribute the remaining ₹6 lakh. The government will bear the entire cost of the land.
In the first phase, the Telangana government plans to construct 7,680 flats across 17 Assembly constituencies under the CURE project. The selected constituencies include Rajendranagar, Serilingampally, Kukatpally, Medchal, Qutbullapur, Malkajgiri, Khairatabad, Jubilee Hills, Nampally, Karwan, Bahadurpura, Amberpet, Sanathnagar, Secunderabad Cantonment, Malakpet, Maheshwaram, and Ibrahimpatnam.
The review meeting was attended by Ministers Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, along with senior officials including R&B Special Chief Secretary Vikas Raj and DGP C.V. Anand.
