Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Social Media Spats Spark Debate Among Filmmakers

Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga, known for his controversial films Arjun Reddy and Animal, has once again found himself in the spotlight—but this time, not for his filmmaking. A recent social media debate involving top voices from the Indian film industry has ignited discussion about Vanga’s public behavior and how artists are perceived in the digital age.

When Animal was released in 2023, filmmaker Anurag Kashyap had praised Vanga in a heartfelt Instagram post, calling him “the most misunderstood, judged, and reviled filmmaker at the moment.” Kashyap lauded Vanga’s honesty and vulnerability, emphasizing that he is “a person you can confront and talk to.”

However, the post sparked a backlash.

Director Neeraj Ghaywan commented with a sharp “cringe,” while lyricist Varun Grover simply wrote “No.” In a later interview, Grover clarified that he didn’t object to Vanga’s work specifically, but to the way Kashyap was defending the filmmaker and not the film.

Grover elaborated, “There’s a difference between defending a piece of art and defending its creator’s behavior. Kashyap’s post was all about Sandeep’s personality and public demeanor—not a word about Animal itself.”

Grover also criticized Vanga’s online conduct, citing instances where he engaged in social media feuds and made arrogant remarks, including one against veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar, allegedly saying Akhtar “can’t write” or lacks “a sense of writing.”

Following the incident, Kashyap reportedly called Grover for a direct conversation. Grover revealed that Kashyap understood his viewpoint and acknowledged the nuance behind the comment. “Anurag has a clear heart and mind. He sees people and situations with clarity,” Grover added, noting that the two have had multiple conversations about the subject since then.

The controversy once again opens up a broader conversation about how artists behave in public, how they are defended, and whether their demeanor should be separated from their creative output.

Prema Desam Hero Vineeth: Did You Know This Tollywood Star Heroine Is His Sister?

Prema Desam, the cult romantic drama that hit theaters in 1996, left a lasting impact on youth audiences. Starring Abbas, Vineeth, and Tabu, the film became a trendsetter—especially for its music, youthful themes, and, of course, the stylish charm of its leads. Among them, Vineeth stood out with his performance and iconic hairstyle, winning over many female fans.

While Vineeth gained immense popularity in Tollywood through Prema Desam, his journey didn’t end there. He featured in several notable films like Gentleman, Sargamalu, W/o V. Vara Prasad, Nee Premakai, Rukmini, Lahiri Lahiri Lahirilo, and Chandramukhi, showcasing both his acting and dancing prowess.

Though he isn’t as active today, Vineeth continues to appear occasionally in key supporting roles. Most recently, he played an important character in the acclaimed web series Manorathangal. A trained classical dancer, Vineeth is often seen performing in dance concerts across the country.

On the personal front, Vineeth married Priscilla Menon on August 28, 2004, and the couple has a daughter named Avanti Vineeth. Known for maintaining a low-profile lifestyle, his family mostly stays away from the public limelight.

But here’s an interesting fact many might not know—Vineeth’s cousin is none other than legendary actress Shobana!

Yes, the iconic star of South Indian cinema, Shobana, is Vineeth’s cousin. She ruled the silver screen in the 90s and acted in over 230 films across Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi. Not only an acclaimed actress, Shobana is also an accomplished Bharatanatyam dancer, choreographer, and winner of multiple prestigious awards, including the Padma Shri and National Film Awards.

Talent truly runs in the family—Vineeth and Shobana have both carved unique paths, contributing richly to Indian cinema and classical arts.

Ravi Teja Scored a Blockbuster with a Script Rejected by Allu Arjun and Jr. NTR—Here’s the Full Story

Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja, known for his energy and crowd-pulling performances, delivered one of his biggest hits with Bhadra—a film that originally didn’t come his way. Interestingly, this 2005 romantic action drama was first offered to Allu Arjun and Jr. NTR, but both stars turned it down for different reasons.

At a time when Ravi Teja was looking for that next big leap in his career, Bhadra, directed by Boyapati Srinu, changed everything for him. It struck a strong chord with the masses and further cemented his place as a bankable star in Tollywood. The film, which co-starred Meera Jasmine, has now completed 20 years, and some fascinating behind-the-scenes details are emerging.

Allu Arjun and NTR Passed on Bhadra

In an earlier interview, Allu Arjun confirmed that he was the first choice for Bhadra. Despite liking the story, he couldn’t allot dates as he was already committed to Arya, who was on the floors at that time. He even mentioned receiving a “thank you” card for the film before he opted out.

After Allu Arjun, the script was offered to Jr. NTR. However, NTR admitted he found Boyapati Srinu’s narration too intense and intimidating, which led him to step away from the project. Later, he would go on to collaborate with Boyapati for Dammu, which turned out to be a success.

With both stars stepping aside, the film landed in Ravi Teja’s lap. The rest, as they say, is history. Bhadra became a blockbuster, gaining cult status over the years and amassing a loyal  fan base.

Ravi Teja, who had already made a mark with Idiot, further strengthened his action-hero image with Bhadra, thanks to Boyapati Srinu’s high-octane direction and mass-appealing story.

Rajamouli Reportedly Weaving Ramayana Elements into Mahesh Babu’s SSMB29

Superstar Mahesh Babu’s highly anticipated film with SS Rajamouli, tentatively titled SSMB29, is already in production, but much of the plot remains a well-guarded secret. While fans eagerly wait for an official announcement, new speculations hint at an intriguing mythological twist to this globe-trotting adventure.

Earlier, writer Vijayendra Prasad teased that the film would be inspired by international adventure franchises like Indiana Jones. Initial reports hinted that SSMB29 would be an African jungle adventure drama. Now, fresh buzz suggests the movie may incorporate elements from the Ramayana, specifically the episode where Lord Hanuman searches for the Sanjeevani herb to save Lakshmana.

According to rumors, Mahesh Babu’s character could be sent on a perilous journey into the African wilderness to retrieve a mystical herb, drawing a symbolic parallel with Hanuman’s legendary quest. The fusion of ancient Indian mythology with a modern adventure setup could result in a cinematic spectacle unlike anything seen before.

While nothing has been officially confirmed, the sheer ambition of this concept feels right at home with Rajamouli’s storytelling style, especially after his monumental success with RRR.

The film also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Priyanka Chopra, with MM Keeravani composing the music. As fans wait for concrete details, expectations continue to skyrocket for what could be one of Indian cinema’s most visually rich and culturally layered projects.

Rana Daggubati on North-South Unity in Cinema: “Let Culture Thrive, Aid Each Other Technically”

Rana Daggubati Shares His Perspective on Bridging North-South Film Industries

As Rana Daggubati gears up for the release of Rana Naidu Season 2, which premieres on June 13, the actor has been actively promoting the show across platforms. During a recent interview, Rana addressed a recurring topic in Indian cinema—the gap between the North and South film industries and how the two can collaborate more effectively.

When asked about the long-standing debate surrounding this divide, Rana offered a candid and thoughtful response.

“If we all decided to work from one place, we’d become a single industry overnight. But our country is vast and multilingual, so communication becomes a challenge,” he stated.

Rana emphasized that while the pan-India wave has broadened the scope of regional cinema, it has also come at a cost:

“In trying to go pan-India, we lost some of our Telugu cultural roots. Not every film needs to be a pan-India project—we should be okay with telling stories rooted in our own culture,” he added.

Calling India a land of “Unity in Diversity,” Rana stressed that collaboration should come through shared distribution models, technology, and filmmaking processes, rather than forcing cultural uniformity.

His nuanced take highlights the importance of celebrating regional diversity while building platforms for nationwide collaboration and technological growth in Indian cinema.

Trivikram’s Mythological Film Now with NTR, Not Allu Arjun | Twist in Telugu Cinema

Twist of the Year: Trivikram’s Mythological Drama Now Set with NTR, Not Allu Arjun

In a major development that has taken Telugu cinema circles by surprise, director Trivikram Srinivas’ long-discussed mythological project—initially planned with Icon Star Allu Arjun—is now reportedly in the hands of Jr. NTR. The sudden shift in casting has sparked massive speculation and curiosity across social media and within industry circles.

Allu Arjun Steps Aside, NTR Steps In

The film, based on Lord Subrahmanya Swamy, was originally hyped as a landmark collaboration between Allu Arjun and Trivikram Srinivas under the Sithara Entertainments banner. Producer Naga Vamshi had openly stated that the film would explore a mythological theme that has never been touched in Telugu cinema before.

With Allu Arjun occupied with Pushpa 2 and later signing a film with Atlee, Trivikram’s project was expected to be delayed. There was even talk of him doing a quick film with Venkatesh in the interim. Meanwhile, rumors also surfaced that Trivikram might be planning a project with Ram Charan, though Sukumar has already locked Charan for his next.

While Allu Arjun’s mythological outing with Trivikram seemed inevitable until recently, fans were left stunned when reports emerged suggesting that NTR will now headline the same film. Though the reasons behind this sudden change remain unclear, fan theories suggest that NTR has always been in consideration—and that this may actually be a revival of #NTR30, a previously shelved collaboration with Trivikram from 2020.

Disappointment Among Allu Arjun Fans

Understandably, Allu Arjun’s fans are disappointed. The project had been heavily promoted in interviews, particularly by Bunny Vas, who even said he was waiting for Trivikram and Allu Arjun to greenlight the film. Now, with NTR taking the lead, the dynamics have dramatically changed.

What’s Next for NTR?

Before diving into this mythological project, NTR is committed to working with Nelson Dilipkumar under the Sithara Entertainments banner. Once that wraps, he is expected to start work on Trivikram’s mythological film. In addition, NTR also has Devara 2 and a Dadasaheb Phalke biopic on his slate, making his lineup one of the most exciting in the industry.

Regardless of the casting shuffle, one thing remains certain—a mythological film helmed by Trivikram Srinivas is bound to be a cinematic spectacle. And now, with Jr. NTR onboard, expectations are skyrocketing all over again.
