Vicky Kaushal dives ‘Into the Wild with Bear Grylls’

After Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn, the upcoming episode of the second season of ‘Into The Wild with Bear Grylls’ will have Vicky Kaushal as the special guest.

The actor opens up about overcoming his deep-sea water phobia and going on expedition in the Indian Ocean with famed adventurer Bear Grylls.

He says: “It was a wonderful experience going on this survival expedition with the world-famous adventurer Bear Grylls. If it wasn’t for him, I would have not been able to defeat my fear of swimming in this vast ocean. This journey also marks an incredibly significant chapter in my life as I was able to overcome and conquer one of my many fears.”

He adds how Bear helped him to overcome his fear while facing number of challenges from crocodiles, sharks and snakes including the uncertain tides and weather.

“The thought of being in the middle of an ocean and not having a floor beneath you is not easy, but Bear’s constant motivation and determination has helped me rise out of this triumphantly,” shares Vicky Kaushal.

Bear Grylls also shares how Vicky had gone through all the obstacles in this adventurous journey.

“Vicky was an incredible guest on so many levels, not only were we in some of the most hostile mangrove swamps on earth, but he also had to face open ocean swimming with sharks in the water, which was a huge obstacle for him! His story and his route to superstardom is so humbling, and his warm, infectious spirit is always inspiring. You get to see a very raw, personal side of Vicky on this journey, and I am so proud of how he truly conquered his fears,” says Bear Grylls.

‘Into the Wild with Bear Grylls’ will air on November 12 on discovery+.

Prabhu Deva’s ‘Pon Manickavel’ to release on OTT on Nov 19

Director A.C. Mugil Chellappan’s ‘Pon Manickavel’, featuring actors Prabhu Deva and Nivetha Pethuaraj in the lead, will release on Disney+ Hotstar on November 19.

Releasing a trailer on Wednesday, the film’s producer Nemichand Jhabak, tweeted, “Mark the date and be ready!”

The film, which has been waiting to hit screens for sometime now, will have Prabhu Deva playing a cop for the first time.

Interestingly, this will be Prabhu Deva’s 50th film.

Originally scheduled to release in theatres on February 21, 2020, the film’s release was pushed to March 6, 2020. However, the release had to be postponed indefinitely as a result of the pandemic.

Eventually, the team, earlier this year, decided that they would release the film on OTT instead of theatres. The exact date of release has been finalised now as November 19.

The film, which has music by D. Imman, has cinematography by K.G. Venkatesh and editing by T. Shivanandeeswaran.

Tuesday’s ‘Bigg Boss Telugu 5’ episode was a bit emotional, as the inmates were shocked with Jessie’s exit from the house.

As Jessie gives emotional goodbye hugs to all, he is seen in the secret room getting treated for his vertigo problem.

To everyone’s surprise, a small piece of cake is placed by the showrunners, in the yard. The cake is tagged with a note “The most eligible housemate can have this cake”. While everyone is confused about the real intentions behind the cake, they discuss who could consume the cake.

While the contestants want to avoid any kind of risks by consuming the cake, they also fear if this is some kind of a mind game, which would launch them into the danger zone. The makers of ‘Bigg Boss Telugu 5’ released a promo which hints that VJ Sunny dares to consume the cake which is kept in the play area of ‘Bigg Boss’ house.

While the house captain Anne wants to take a call regarding this, Sunny is seen walking towards the cake and peacefully gulping it. Anne seems to be angry about this daring feat by Sunny, while his friend Manas enjoys Sunny’s witty talks all the while. Sunny and Sree Rama Chandra are seen having fun during this process. On the other hand, Jessie seems to be getting better, and is seen watching all the happenings from the secret room.

What happens after Sunny’s cake consumption, is to be seen in this episode. Sunny’s fans and ‘Bigg Boss Telugu 5’ viewers are curious, as it is still unknown if the cake task is about winning immunity or if it puts Sunny in the danger zone.

Yaaneea Bharadwaj, who made a mark in the series ‘Made In Heaven’, will soon be seen in the horror film ‘Chhorrii’. The appreciation for the recently released teaser of the film has left the actress overwhelmed.

Talking about the response to the teaser, she says, “I am so glad to see the amount of love people have showered on the teaser of ‘Chhorrii’, it feels great to see all your hard work being appreciated. I personally had a great time on the sets, working for an Abundantia film.”

Commenting about her experience of shooting the film, the actress adds, “During our shoot schedule of about 25 days in Bhopal, we had so much fun because the entire crew and team, from Vishal Furia sir to Mita ma’am, Nushrratt and everyone was really sweet fun to be around. And the best part was the food, we all used to look forward to the food breaks between our shoots because the food on the sets was so yummy.”

“I am really excited for everyone to watch the film and give it as much love as they have given to the teaser till now. I am very scared of horror films myself but I had an amazing time shooting for this one and I am sure the audience will enjoy watching it equally as much,” she concludes.

Actor Naga Shourya’s father arrested in gambling case

Police on Wednesday arrested Tollywood actor Naga Shourya’s father Shivalinga Prasad in a case relating to gambling at his farmhouse near Hyderabad.

Shivalinga Prasad, who had taken the farmhouse on lease from its owner, was arrested for alleged violation of lease conditions.

The police produced Prasad in a court, which was also hearing bail petitions filed by him.

On October 31, police raided a farmhouse at Manchirevula in Narsingi and arrested 30 people including former MLA Sriram Bhadraiah for gambling.

A case under Telangana Gaming Act was registered at Narsingi Police Station under the limits of Cyberabad Police Commissionerate. Barring main accused Gutta Suman Kumar, all others were later released on bail.

Police had initially stated that Suman had taken the farmhouse on rent for one day from Prasad who had taken the property on lease for film shootings. Suman, however, organised gambling by inviting several people including a MLA and some realtors.

Police seized Rs 6.77 lakh in cash, 33 mobile phones, three cars and 29 gambling sets.

Suman, who was allegedly involved in a few cases in Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Vijayawada, was grilled by police in custody. He was also released on bail two days ago.

Madhavan, Surveen Chawla pair up for ‘Decoupled’

Actors R. Madhavan and Surveen Chawla will be seen in Netflix’s upcoming comedy drama titled ‘Decoupled’.

Madhavan said: “I play the character of ‘Arya’, a pulp-fiction writer who suffers with a rather uncompromised sense of objectivity and clarity, along with a determination to not compromise (ever!) – which is hilarious especially when pitted against his calm and composed wife Shruti, played by Surveen. Surveen was a delight to work with through and through and I hope the chemistry and humour we share on-screen leaves audiences laughing uncontrollably.”

Madhavan will be seen as ‘Arya’ and Surveen as ‘Shruti’. From friends to life partners – Arya and Shruti have been through it all. As the sarcastic, outspoken pulp fiction writer Arya, and his calm, composed corporate suit CEO wife Shruti decide to call it quits on their marriage.

Although they decide it’s time to part ways, the two find unexpected chemistry as they hilariously navigate through their issues, and juggle the constant question of should they or shouldn’t they be together. Should they decouple or not?

Surveen Chawla, who returns to Netflix after playing the much loved Jojo in ‘Sacred Games’, added: “‘Decoupled’ hilariously sheds light on a modern couple trying to work through the nuances of a marriage while trying to keep their sanity intact. Madhavan is playing my husband Arya’s character with utmost ease and his comic timing is spot on.”

“The dynamic of Shruti and Arya is unique, honest and it was honestly such a refreshing experience. Manu Joseph and Hardik Mehta were incredible in egging us on to bring these characters to life in our own ways. It is an entertaining comedy and we hope the audiences enjoy watching it.”

Speaking about ‘Decoupled’, creator Manu Joseph added: “‘Decoupled’ is about a guy who can see in any situation what others are trained to ignore. Naturally, it gets him into trouble wherever he goes, and this sort of objectivity is not healthy for a man in a marriage. One of our goals was to keep it all real.

“The thing about comedy is that if it is not real it is not funny; and what is difficult about comedy is that every component in a scene has to fire for it to work. It was amazing to watch Madhavan throw away his good-boy image for the lead role and reach deep into his delinquent side.”

‘Naatu Naatu’ song from ‘RRR’ has fans on their feet

This has doubled the expectations about Keerthy Suresh playing violin. As reported, Thaman is to utilise Keerthy Suresh’s musical talent for one of the promotional songs or a musical bit, which would be out soon. Though there is no official confirmation, Thaman’s hints on social media indicates the same.

‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’ is directed by Parasuram Petla and is slated for a grand release on April 1. Mahesh Babu and Keerthy Suresh are the lead pair with an ensemble cast.

Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Bar Council praises ‘Jai Bhim’ film unit

The Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Bar Council has expressed its appreciation to the makers of the critically acclaimed Tamil film ‘Jai Bhim’.

It said that the film not only brought to light the struggle for justice by a poor victim but also highlighted the strength of the legal profession and the greatness of the courts of justice that come to the aid of victims whose rights get trampled due to abuse of power.

In a letter addressed to the film’s director, Gnanavel, a copy of which was also sent to actor Suriya and retired Justice Chandru, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Bar Council Chairman P.S. Amalraj said, “I have watched the movie Jai Bhim, produced by 2D productions. Hats off to the producers and actor Surya for boldly bringing out the truth, without deviating from the original incident.”

Making a number of observations about the film, the Chairman pointed out that the movie had shown, for the first time, the real court campus and broken myths about lawyers’ arguments in actual court proceedings.

Stating that the film had made the common man understand what happened in court proceedings without cinematic additions, the Chairman said, “The director needs to be appreciated for the boldness to bring out the disturbing truth, without diluting it. The picture shows the sincere hard work done by the lawyer and explains to society the real value of the noble profession.”

“This movie has brought to light not only the struggle for justice by a poor victim but also highlighted the strength of the legal profession and the greatness of the Courts of Justice to come to the aid of victims whose rights get trampled, due to abuse of power.”

“As the Chairman of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, I wholeheartedly congratulate the makers, the artistes of the movie, especially Mr Suriya, and the real hero, Justice Chandru for his selfless efforts and bringing accolades to the legal profession,” he added.
