Blocking on X will be removed, as indicated by Musk.
Elon Musk has announced the removal of the blocking feature on X, formerly known as Twitter. Users will no longer have the ability to block others, except within direct messages (DMs). This decision has stirred discontent among many users.
The block feature, which prevents other users from interacting with, viewing, and following an account, is set to be eliminated. Musk clarified that the ‘Mute’ feature will still be available on the platform. In response to a follower, the tech billionaire explained that the block feature will be deleted as a ‘feature,’ with the exception of its use in DMs, and he expressed that this change doesn’t make sense.
Back in June, Musk had previously advocated for Twitter to replace blocking with a “stronger form of mute.” He had also voiced concerns about mass blocking campaigns targeting users who subscribe to Twitter Blue. While some users consider blocking a safety feature, the suggestion to remove it has generated criticism and worries from the user community.
