The Tamil thriller DNA, which has received widespread acclaim, is now arriving in Telugu under the title My Baby. Starring Atharvaa Murali and Nimisha Sajayan and directed by Nelson Venkatesan, the film is set to hit Telugu theaters on July 18, followed by its OTT premiere on JioCinema (Hotstar) on July 19.
Originally, the makers had planned for a simultaneous theatrical release across all languages, but due to delays and internal production disagreements, the Telugu version was postponed. The dubbing rights for the Telugu version were acquired by Suresh Kondeti, who chose the title My Baby for its local release.
Interestingly, the OTT premiere date was advanced from the initially planned July 25 to July 19, just a day after its theatrical release—a move that may potentially impact box office revenues. Industry insiders believe differences between the producers could be the reason behind this overlapping release strategy.
Despite the scheduling hiccups, the film has been met with positive reviews in Tamil, and recent private screenings of the Telugu version have also garnered favorable responses, boosting its chances of success in both formats.
It remains to be seen if the OTT platform will alter the availability of the Telugu version to protect its theatrical run, but one thing is certain: thriller lovers have a gripping ride ahead, either on the big screen or in the comfort of their homes.
