Actor Nagarjuna’s comments at the Lenin success meet have sparked a fresh debate about filmmaking in Tollywood. Referring to Hollywood’s Odyssey, he pointed out that the film’s release date was announced nearly a year in advance and questioned why Telugu cinema cannot follow a similar production strategy. He stressed that films should ideally be completed at least two weeks before release, giving filmmakers enough time for corrections and post-production without last-minute pressure.
Industry experts believe Hollywood’s workflow is built around extensive pre-production, detailed scripting, and disciplined planning before cameras start rolling. In contrast, many Telugu films begin production with evolving scripts, frequent changes, and tight release targets, often leading to delays. While adopting the Odyssey model may not be easy, stronger script development, better production planning, and realistic scheduling could help Tollywood improve both efficiency and film quality.
