Opposition MPs file notices in the RS regarding the violence in Manipur
Opposition MPs from the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) submitted notices in the Rajya Sabha to initiate discussions on the ongoing violence in Manipur. RJD MP Manoj Kumar Jha requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the House about the Manipur issue and then have a detailed discussion. AAP MP Raghav Chadha sought a discussion on the breakdown of law and order in Manipur, attributing it to the failure of both the Central and state governments.
The Manipur violence, which began on May 3, has resulted in numerous casualties and forced thousands of people to seek refuge in relief camps.
Meanwhile, in the Lok Sabha, Congress MP Manish Tewari submitted an adjournment motion notice calling for a discussion on the border situation with China. Tewari urged the government to provide information about the measures taken to address the border dispute and protect India’s integrity against potential Chinese aggressions.
Furthermore, Congress MP Manickam Tagore also moved an adjournment motion notice in the Lower House, seeking a discussion on the condition of Central universities, where the representation of OBCs in the professor and associate professor categories allegedly falls behind that of SCs.
