Addressing media representatives in CM’s office, UP CM Yogi Adityanath stated that, over-confidence is the reason for BJP’s failure in the Lok Sabha by-elections. The CM did not shy away from accepting the defeat.
‘We underestimated the SP – BSP alliance, and accept the defeat. These by-elections are a lesson for us. We will thoroughly introspect on our defeat and the reasons for our loss. During our party meetings, we thought that SP – BSP alliance wouldn’t have any impact on the polls. At the same time, we also believe that local factors have played a key role in our defeat.
On this occasion, I heartily congratulate the winners in the by-elections, and look forward to the development of the constituencies,’ said UP CM Yogi Adityanath.
While BJP UP Chief Mahendra Nath Pandey blamed the ‘poor voter turnout’ for the parties defeat in the elections.
Samajwadi Party candidate Praveen Nishad won in Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seat defeated BJP candidate Upendra Dutta Shukla. While another Samajwadi Party candidate Nagendra Pratap Singh defeated BJP candidate Kaushalendra Singh Patel in Phulpur Lok Sabha constituency.
