Pakistan bans Imran Khan from politics for five years

Imran Khan is barred from politics for five years in Pakistan.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has stated that Imran Khan has been ruled ineligible following his conviction for corrupt activities as outlined in Section 167 of the Elections Act, 2017, which resulted in a three-year sentence.

Consequently, the ECP has officially declared Khan, aged 70, disqualified based on Article 63(1)(h) of the Constitution combined with Section 232 of the Elections Act, 2017. The notification further clarified that Imran Ahmed Khan Niazi is disqualified for a duration of five years and has been de-notified as a successful candidate from constituency NA-45 Kurram-I.
