PM Modi to Congress: I sold tea, not the nation!
Prime Minister Narendra Modi lashed out at the Congress party after a meme surfaced online. The meme mocked Modi’s beginnings, where he was a tea vendor. The meme was tweeted by Congress Youth Wing Yuva Desh. The tweet became viral for all the wrong reasons. It was condemned by everyone terming it as an insulting attack on the PM.
The BJP official Twitter account shared a tweet in which PM Modi said, ‘The Congress dislikes me because of my poor origins. Can a party stoop so low? Yes, a person belonging to a poor family has become PM. They do not fail to contempt for this fact. Yes, I sold tea but I did not sell the nation’.
The meme shows Prime Minister Modi along with the UK PM Theresa May and the US President Donald Trump. In the meme, Trump is seen correcting Modi, after the latter pronounces May-May instead of Meme. The ‘May-May’ is being referred to UK PM Theresa ‘May’.
Amassing his attack, PM Modi stated that, ‘this son of Gujarat (referring himself) doesn’t have any black marks in public life. I dare you (Congress) to come to Gujarat and say anything against this son of Gujarat’.
