The second test of India against New Zealand will on Friday, but the India had suffered because of three players senior pacer Ishant Sharma, vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane and all-rounder Ravendra Jadeja out due to niggles.
Because of wet conditions caused by rains on Wednesday and Thursday,the start of the match was delayed Then BCCI put the news that senior players would not be available for the match.
Three players, Sharma was out with a dislocated left little finger, Jadeja has a right forearm injury and Rahane has a slight left hamstring strain, are facing hurt during final day of match at kanpur. secretary of BCCI Jay Shah informed in a release on Friday.
“During the final day of the 1st test match in the kanpur, Fast bowler Ishant Sharma dislocated his left little finger then he has to be ruled out the 2nd test of the match in mumbai. The BCCI medical team will continue to monitor his progress” the release said.
In the first test match in the kanpur, all rounder Ravindra Jadeja suffereda a right forearm injury. He was diagnosed with a swelling on his forearm. For 2nd Test in Mumbai, He has been advised rest and ruled out the match.” Regarding Jadeja, he said.
“While the fielding on the final day of the 1st match in kanpur, Rahane sustained a minor left hamstring strain. He has also been ruled out of the 2nd Test in Mumbai since he not recovered.”
The release puts to rest speculation of likely tough selection calls being taken by the team management in the wake of below-par performances from Ishant Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane in the opening Test at Kanpur.
The absence of the trio has thus paved the way for the likes of Mohammed Siraj and Shreyas Iyer to make it to the playing XI. Mumbai batsman Suryakumar Yadav or Jayant Yadav, who struck a century in the last match that India played at the Wankhede, could replace Jadeja.
