Rajinikanth’s Coolie Sets New Record in USA, Clashes with War 2 This Independence Day Weekend
Superstar Rajinikanth is all set to dominate the box office once again with his upcoming gangster action drama Coolie, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Scheduled for a grand Independence Day weekend release, the film is heading for a major box office showdown with the much-anticipated War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and NTR Jr.
Adding to the hype, Coolie features Tollywood superstar Nagarjuna in a powerful antagonist role, making this pan-India project even more appealing to Telugu and Tamil audiences alike.
In the U.S., the film is already breaking records. According to the latest update from the North American distributor, Coolie has sold over 40,000 tickets for its premiere shows across all languages, including the Telugu version. It has already made history by becoming the fastest Tamil film to earn $1 million in North America—a feat achieved purely through pre-sales.
At this rate, Coolie is well on track to surpass the all-time Kollywood premiere record currently held by Kabali, which earned $1.86 million.
Backed by Sun Pictures, the film also stars Aamir Khan, Shruti Haasan, Soubin Shahir, Sathyaraj, and others in prominent roles, setting the stage for one of the biggest multi-starrer events in recent Tamil cinema.
As the Independence Day weekend nears, all eyes are on this high-octane box office clash between two cinematic giants.
