Tamil superstar Rajinikanth’s highly anticipated pan-India gangster drama Coolie is all set for a worldwide release on August 14, 2025, as a special Independence Day treat. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, one of Kollywood’s most consistent hitmakers, the film is already making waves with its massive pre-release buzz.
On Sunday evening, Lokesh took to X (formerly Twitter) to share two candid pictures with his close friend and Coolie music composer Anirudh Ravichander. Calling Anirudh his “brother from another mother”, Lokesh wrote, “From where we started our journey together, here we are collaborating for the fourth time — and every time it’s been a blast!” Interestingly, both photos feature Superstar Rajinikanth’s pictures in the background, adding to the moment’s charm.
Coolie is expected to open to record-breaking numbers, with global pre-sales already crossing ₹50 crore. Produced by Sun Pictures, the film boasts a star-studded cast including Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Shruti Haasan, and several other prominent actors in pivotal roles.
