Ram Charan’s upcoming film RC17, directed by Sukumar, has officially been launched, sparking considerable curiosity among fans. The pre-look poster has triggered speculation that the film may feature mythological elements, with rumours suggesting that Ram Charan could be seen portraying Lord Krishna.
Amid these discussions, another rumour began circulating that RC17 might be a remake of the 2025 Gujarati blockbuster Laalo. However, these claims are reportedly baseless, and the film has no connection to the Gujarati hit.
Sukumar announced RC17 in March 2024 and has been developing its script since then. Reports suggest that a significant portion of the script was already completed even before Laalo reached theatres. This has further dismissed speculation about the project being a remake.
There were also rumours that Ram Charan would star in the Telugu remake of Laalo. However, he is not associated with that project, and another actor is reportedly being considered for the lead role.
The shooting of RC17 is expected to begin soon, while the makers are yet to reveal the female lead. Anirudh Ravichander will compose the music, and Ratnavelu will handle the cinematography. Mythri Movie Makers is producing the film in association with Sukumar Writings and T-Series Films.
