Ramayana’s AI Dubbing Row: Nitesh Tiwari Clears the Air Ahead of World Premiere

Date:

The excitement surrounding Ramayana: Rise of a Legend has reached a new high as the epic reportedly premiered at the David Geffen Theatre inside the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film’s screening brought together international critics, Indian guests, and members of the film’s team.

Ahead of the premiere, Nitesh Tiwari addressed the ongoing social media discussion about the film’s dubbing process. Clarifying the use of artificial intelligence, the director reportedly stated that Brahma AI was used only for lip-syncing, while professional voice artists handled the dubbing.

According to the explanation, the technology was employed to make the characters’ lip movements appear more natural to audiences watching the film in different languages. The clarification comes amid wider discussions about the role of AI in filmmaking and its impact on dubbing and localisation.

With the film being screened in English for its international premiere, attention is now focused on how the epic connects with audiences beyond India. The reactions from critics are expected to offer an early indication of the film’s global reception.

The review embargo is reportedly scheduled to lift on Friday, after which detailed reviews are expected to emerge.

The film features Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, Yash as Ravana, and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. Kajal Aggarwal, Rakul Preet Singh, and Vivek Oberoi are also part of the supporting cast.

Namit Malhotra and Yash have jointly produced the ambitious project, while the music is composed by Hans Zimmer and A. R. Rahman.

Ramayana: Rise of a Legend is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5, 2026, in multiple languages and formats. As anticipation builds, the upcoming critical reviews and audience reactions will be closely watched.
