Crime thrillers often follow a familiar pattern, but in recent years, Malayalam cinema has been redefining the genre with gripping screenplays, layered characters, and unexpected twists. This has not only kept audiences hooked in theaters but also given these films a strong presence on OTT platforms. One such engaging thriller is Abrahaminte Santhitkal, released in Telugu as Derrick Abraham.
The Story
The film opens with a series of nine mysterious murders in Ernakulam, Kerala. Investigations soon reveal that a serial killer with Christian extremist motives is behind them, targeting only atheists. To crack the case, a sincere and dynamic police officer (Mammootty) takes charge.
During the investigation, clues lead to Brother Simon from a local seminary, who admits he planned to kill ten people. But before the case is resolved, the murder of a priest causes chaos, leading to Mammootty’s suspension for negligence.
Meanwhile, Mammootty’s younger brother Philip Abraham (Anson Paul) is arrested for the alleged murder of his girlfriend, Alina. Despite his love for Philip, Mammootty chooses duty over family. But soon, he discovers that the real conspiracy is orchestrated by police officers Dinesh and Jacob, along with lawyer Diana, all of whom hold a personal grudge against him.
In a shocking twist, Philip is sentenced to prison because of his brother’s verdict, leading to a bitter fallout. Seeking revenge, Philip escapes from prison. From here, the story raises several burning questions:
-
Will Philip kill his own brother?
-
Who was really behind Alina’s murder?
-
Why did Dinesh, Jacob, and Diana turn against Mammootty?
-
And who killed Brother Simon in police custody?
The answers unfold in this fast-paced investigative thriller filled with tension, family drama, and revenge.
