Airtel narrowing gap with Jio on 4G in India: Report

0

Airtel has come closer to challenging Reliance Jio which continues to reign supreme on 4G availability and 4G coverage experience in India, says a new report by mobile analytics company Opensignal.

While the average proportion of time that Jio users spent connected to 4G has increased by 0.5 of a percentage point since the last report to reach an impressive 98.7 per cent, Airtel saw its score increase by 1.1 percentage points.

“As a consequence, Jio’s lead has dropped from 3.7 percentage points to 3.1,” said the report.

In regional analysis of 49 cities, Airtel came close to challenging Jio’s dominance on 4G availability in a majority of the cities although Jio continued to win almost all awards, said the report.

While Jio won in 48 cities outright it drew for the first place with Airtel in Coimbatore.

However, for the second report in a row, Airtel has won four of the awards outright — video experience, games experience, voice app experience and download Speed experience, while ownership of the upload speed experience award smoothly passed from Vodafone to Vi.

This is the first report in which Opensignal treated Vodafone and Idea as a single operator — Vi — in line with the combined operator’s new branding that was announced on September 7.

For the report, Opensignal examined the mobile network experience of the four main mobile network operators in India: Airtel, BSNL, Jio and Vi, over a period of 90 days beginning May 1 to see how they fared, and further delved deeper into 49 of India’s largest cities, comparing the experience users received on these four operators.

Video course in spoken English for UP teachers

A special video course in spoken English will now help more than 1.6 lakh teachers in government-run primary and upper primary schools in Uttar Pradesh to improve their pronunciation and teaching skills.

The video course has been designed by experts at the English Language Teaching Institute (ELTI) in Uttar Pradesh’s Prayagraj.

Teachers of government-run primary and upper primary schools will be given online training through this course. It will be mandatory for language teachers of schools to attend the course online. ELTI will also make its spoken English videos available on its YouTube channel.

ELTI Principal Skand Shukla said the initiative is aimed at improving educational standards.

“The course comprises 120 modules, each of nearly 10 to 12 minutes duration. The full course is nearly 24 hours and will soon be available through the ‘Diksha’ portal of the Union Ministry of Education for teachers,” he added.

The course has been designed by ELTI after studying such courses already available in the private sector, he said.

Experts at ELTI saw that none of the currently available courses could provide the required knowledge of English language along with practice in speaking for teachers, Shukla added.

AIFF’s three-day international virtual coaching conference begins

0

The three-day International virtual coaching conference being organised by All India Football Federation commenced on Monday.

AIFF general secretary Kushal Das said that the organisation has arranged quite a few coaching conferences including the e-pathshala in collaboration with the Sports Authority of India (SAI) during the Covid-19 situation, and this virtual conference will add more value to all participants.

“AIFF has been fairly active since the pandemic situation broke out. We have continued to work together with the Sports Authority of India to have launched e-pathshala. This conference presents us with another opportunity to learn,” he said

The general secretary referred to the increase in the number of licensed coaches in India in the last ten years. He also mentioned the importance of the “revalidation process” in order to ensure the development process runs seamlessly.

“We had 900-odd coaches in 2010 but now we have more than 11,000 licensed coaches. Football in India is increasing every day. The numbers of teams, tournaments have increased so we are in dire need of more coaches,” he stated.

“We need to provide them with the right platform in terms of employment opportunity. Only increasing the number won’t suffice, a pathway is required. Besides coaching within India, if they are employed abroad, that will be perfect,” he added.

Das also highlighted the importance of the “mental strength” while referring to the upcoming tournaments which will be organised within a bio-secure bubble.

“After a prolonged gap, we’re going to resume sporting action once again. The I-League qualifiers will start on October 8 in Kolkata followed by Indian Super League and I-League in Goa and Kolkata respectively. All these tournaments will be organised within bio-secure bubbles and utmost precautions,” he said.

“Unfortunately, the number of Covid-19 cases is not going down and there are risks associated with organising such an event. But, we can’t sit back and allow the pandemic to take over,” he added.

Amazon India adds ‘tens of thousands’ of delivery partners

0

Giving a major boost to its delivery network, Amazon India said on Monday that it has added tens of thousands of delivery partners to the network to serve the rising customer demand for the festive season.

The company has added close to 200 delivery stations across the country to further its direct reach, including in many northeastern towns such as Champhai, Kolasib, Lumding and Mokokchung.

“The recent expansion of our delivery programmes has collectively furthered Amazon India’s goal to improve reach and provide a fast, safe and more seamless e-commerce experience ahead of the festive season,” Prakash Rochlani, Director, Last Mile Operations, Amazon India, said in a statement.

“Our goal is to ensure customers across the country are able to get what they desire this festive season from the comfort of their home, while prioritising the safety of both our customers and delivery partners.”

The company has also strengthened its delivery programs as well with its flagship “I Have Space” (IHS) programme, now comprising more than 28,000 neighbourhood and kirana stores in close to 350 cities.

Under the “I Have Space” programme, Amazon India partners with local store owners to deliver products to customers within a two to four kilometres radius of their store, allowing them to supplement their regular income and generate more footfalls in their stores.

The company has also nearly doubled the reach of the Amazon Flex programme in the last four months, to now serve 65 cities in India.

The programme allows delivery partners to work according to their own schedules and earn supplemental income between Rs 120 – Rs 140 per hour, delivering Amazon packages.

Even low alcohol use during pregnancy bad for child’s brain: Study

0

Researchers have found that even low levels of alcohol consumption during pregnancy can have an impact on a child’s brain development.

The study, published in the American Journal of Psychiatry, said that it is also associated with greater psychological and behavioural problems in youth including anxiety, depression and poor attention.

“Our research found that even small amounts of alcohol consumed while pregnant can have a significant impact on a child’s brain development,” said study lead author Briana Lees from the University of Sydney in Australia.

For the findings, the researchers investigated whether any alcohol consumption in pregnancy was related to psychological, behavioural, neural and cognitive differences in children aged nine to ten years.

With a sample of 9,719 youth, this is the largest study to investigate the impact of low-level alcohol use during pregnancy.

Low levels of drinking were considered one to two drinks per occasion with a maximum of six drinks per week.

In the study, 25 per cent of children had been exposed to alcohol in utero (in the womb), 60 per cent of these children had been exposed to low-level alcohol use, and 40 per cent had been exposed to heavier levels.

Heavier exposure being three or more drinks per occasion or seven or more drinks per week.

Children who were exposed to low levels of alcohol in-utero at any time during pregnancy experienced more psychological/emotional problems (including anxiety, depression and being withdrawn) and behavioural problems (including poor attention and being impulsive) than unexposed children.

There was a 25 per cent increased likelihood of an attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) diagnosis in children who were exposed to slightly heavier levels of alcohol (approximately 36 drinks) in the first 6-7 weeks of pregnancy.

Heavier alcohol use during early pregnancy was also associated with rule-breaking behaviour and aggression, with a 30 per cent higher risk of the child being diagnosed with the oppositional defiant disorder than unexposed youth.

“Generally, the more a child was exposed to alcohol in utero the more severe the outcomes were,” Lees said.

“This research highlights the importance for women to be aware of the effects that even low levels of drinking can have on the brain development of babies,” she said.

Unemployment key issue in Bihar polls

0

No party is leaving anything to chance to win the Bihar assembly elections to be held in October-November this year. All parties are vociferously making several poll promises to entice the voters.

With the announcement of the poll dates, the ruling Janata Dal (United) supremo and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has reached out to people with the electoral promises made by his party while the leader of the main opposition party, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Tejashwi Yadav has also come out with his party’s poll promises. Both parties are specially eyeing the unemployed youth.

The JD(U) and the RJD have been in power in Bihar for 15 years each.

Nitish Kumar promised to work under the ‘seven commandments part-2′ after returning to power. Under the ‘Yuva Shakti Bihar Ki Pragati’ programme he promised to train the youth of the state to prepare them for jobs.

Nitish Kumar promised to connect more and more youth with the Kaushal Vikas Yojana (Skill Development Scheme) and to set up a mega skilling centre in each district along with a new department for skill and entrepreneurship. The Chief Minister assured that this time all necessary support for entrepreneurship would be provided to the youth.

The RJD leaders also did not lag behind in the political race. Tejashwi Yadav on Sunday told journalists that within two months of coming to power he would provide 10 lakh people with government jobs.

Citing data showing vacant posts in government departments, Tejashwi said that if the RJD comes to power then in the first cabinet meeting it will be decided to provide employment to 10 lakh youths.

“If people give my party a chance to come to power then all the vacant posts in government departments will be filled,” he added.

The opposition parties are raising several questions over the poll promises made by leaders of the RJD and the JD(U). When in power they did not work to fulfil the aspirations of the people, they alleged.

Political analyst Ajay Kumar said announcements and promises by parties before elections were not a new phenomenon. It has been happening earlier as well.

“Many migrant workers have returned home during the corona pandemic but the Opposition has been making unemployment the core issue for the past few months. To counter the Opposition, the ruling party is forced to make employment promises,” Kumar added.

He said both the JD(U) and the RJD have been in power for 15 years each. If sincere efforts had been made on the issue of unemployment, the situation would have been vastly different.

Telangana Cong leaders marching to Raj Bhavan detained

0

Hyderabad police detained leaders of opposition Congress party marching towards Raj Bhavan as part of the protest over the newly enacted Farm Laws.

Led by party incharge in the state Manickam Tagore, party leaders and activists tried to head towards the Telangana Governor’s official residence from nearby Dilkusha guest house.

Raising slogans against ‘anti-farmer’ legislation, Modi government and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, they were stopped by the police.

The Congress leaders said they wanted to submit a memorandum to Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan or any other official at Raj Bhavan but the police refused to allow them as there was no appointment for the same.

State Congress chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy said it was unfortunate that they were denied appointment to submit the memorandum.

“This is injustice to the principal opposition party which always stood by farmers,” he said.

He said they were ready to submit memorandum to any official sent by the governor to the main gate but even this was not allowed. “This is unfortunate. The governor, whose duty to safeguard the Constitution, should have at least allowed us to submit the memorandum,” he said.

The march to Raj Bhavan by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) was part of the nation-wide protest called by Congress over the contentious farm legislation.

Tagore, who was recently appointed as state incharge for Telangana, personally led the protest. AICC secretaries Bose Raju and Sreenivasan, TPCC working president A. Revanth Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, Damodar Rajanarasimha, Sravan Dasoju, D. Sreedhar Babu and other leaders participated in the protest.

Tagore, who is on his first visit to Hyderabad since his appointment as Congress incharge, called up on the party cadre to actively participate in the ongoing protests over farm legislation.

Irrfan Khan’s son Babil pens moving note

Babil Khan, elder son of late actor Irrfan Khan, has penned an emotional note for his father and said that he would give every cell in his presence to remember his skin.

Babil took to Instagram and shared a motley of pictures of his father Irrfan and him, working behind the camera.

He wrote: “I’m working Baba. You pushed through demons, up in your feelings, no one gets it, no? I’d give every cell in my presence to remember your skin, My spinal chord will rotate and my soul can implode, in a search to feel you close, I wish I would have known how it feels to end, so I can begin.”

“Why are you surprised? It’s the job of the Politician to choose to lie, and when I’m bleeding, I know, sleep is just death being shy. I pray for you, our farmers, in our self-illusiveness we thought we were better, I hope we can surrender. I hope we find a way. I miss you India. (No political comments please, this is not a political expression.)”

Babil and his mother Sutapa Sikdar keep sharing memories of Irrfan on social media. The actor passed away in Mumbai on April 29 this year.

Irrfan was still under treatment when he returned to acting with “Angrezi Medium”, a follow-up to his 2017 hit, “Hindi Medium”.

Irrfan’s final film, incidentally, has also been Bollywood’s last release in the theatres for now, before the Covid-19 pandemic forced a total lockdown of the nation.

In “Angrezi Medium”, Irrfan played a small town father willing to go to any extent to fulfil his daughter’s dream of a foreign education, so much so that he lands in a hilarious mess.

UP Cong, PSPL protest against farm laws

0

The Congress and the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party Lohia (PSPL), on Monday, held separate agitations in Lucknow to protest against the farmers’ bills.

Hundreds of workers of both the parties clashed with the police, which had to use mild force to disperse the crowds.

The Congress workers broke the barricades at the Parivartan Chowk while the PSPL workers shouted slogans outside their office in the Mall Avenue area.

Many workers of both the parties were taken into custody.

UPCC president Ajay Kumar Lallu said, “The police have used unwarranted force on our workers who were agitating peacefully. This is an infringement of our democratic rights. A large number of our leaders have been placed under house arrest while workers have also been prevented from participating in the programme.”

Sui Dhaaga maker Sharat Katariya: My characters come from personal experiences

The Varun Dhawan-Anushka Sharma starrer Sui Dhaaga released two years ago on this day. Director Sharat Katariya, opening up on his creative process, says the characters in his films come from his personal experiences.

The 2018 release “Sui Dhaaga” was Katariya’s third directorial after “10ml Love” (2010) and “Dum Laga Ke Haisha” (2015). He also contributed as a writer in films like “Bheja Fry” (2007) and “Titli” (2015).

Katariya, who also penned dialogues in “Fan” (2016) and “Befikre” (2016), has carved his niche for crafting critically acclaimed commercial entertainers that celebrate realism, as a writer and filmmaker.

“I was born in Delhi. The characters normally come from personal experiences of growing up. All these characters whether its Prem and Sandhya (Dum Laga Ke Haisha) or Mauji and Mamta (Sui Dhaaga) or other characters, like their parents, their family, their neighbours, whatsoever you write or you are influenced from, are people who you come across,” Katariya said.

“Most of these people in the films are the characters one has come across in life while growing up,” he added.

His films always make a subtle social commentary.

Asked if he tries to bring social change through his works, Katariya said: “When you write you are not thinking about all these things. You write what you feel for, that’s the primary thing. Anything that you feel for has a resonance to the social environment and it automatically reflects in the script.”

“One doesn’t start from there, one starts from an incident or something that inspires or moves you. That’s where is the beginning,” he added.

Citing the example of “Dum Laga Ke Haisha”, Katariya says the film’s genesis was seeing the character of a wife winning a championship.

“I was not thinking of social relevance or anything like that. I was thinking of a story, but when you are developing characters, a woman is overweight and a man is thin and it’s a marriage which is not working, then automatically all the social conflicts and stigmas will automatically come into the story,” he said.

“Because the characters grow up in real environment and they have their own prejudices and conflicts and hence the social commentary.”

He added that it was the same with “Sui Dhaaga”.

“I saw a man under a tree, who was working as a tailor to make ends meet and from there it began. These are the real people, these are the real heroes. For me, he is a superhero. Superheroes are not just about flying in the air. Superheroes are also about making their ends meet in the most difficult scenarios,” the filmmaker said.

“That’s how it came in and became social commentary. The idea is never to manipulate writing in a way that it becomes that,” he summed up.

SC allows CLAT aspirant suspected of Covid to appear for exam

0

The Supreme Court permitted an applicant, who is suspected of being Covid-19 positive, to appear in the CLAT 2020 entrance exam scheduled on Monday.

A bench comprising Justices Ashok Bhushan, R. Subhash Reddy and M.R. Shah said the court is of the view that the applicant should be permitted to take his CLAT examination on September 28, in a separate isolation room to be provided by his Centre Superintendent.

The bench asked the applicant to ensure that a downloaded copy of the top court order is presented before his Centre Superintendent as early as possible by any other non-symptomatic person. “On such order being produced, Centre Superintendent shall provide a separate room for applicant to appear in the examination. Applicant shall enter into centre after other candidates take entry and shall first leave the examination centre,” said the bench.

The bench, disposing of the application, observed that the Centre Superintendent may also request the Chief Medical officer of the District or Superintendent, government hospital to provide a medical staff to render necessary assistance.

In the application, the student aspiring to clear the CLAT exam said that he is presently in isolation due to his being suspected of being Covid positive. “He is otherwise fine and is fully ready and prepared to give the Common Law Admission Test, 2020 (CLAT) examination scheduled to take place on September 28,” said the application.

The bench noted that according to its order on September 21, it had paved the way for CLAT 2020 taking all precautions and care for health of the students after following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW) and Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD).

The applicant had argued that as per the admit card issued, Covid-19 symptomatic candidates will be allocated an isolated room but instructions have been issued by the consortium that candidates, who have been tested positive and are under medical surveillance or in isolation will not be permitted to take the CLAT, 2020 examination.

Now, Karnataka’s Cong MLA Patil tests corona positive

0

A day after a Congress lawmaker in Karnataka tested positive for coronavirus, another party MLA HK Patil has been found infected, a party official said on Monday.

“Patil is in quarantine at his city home for the next 10 days. He is asymptomatic,” Congress spokesman Ravi Gowda told IANS here.

Patil, 67, represents Gadag segment in the state’s north-west region, about 380km from Bengaluru.

“I will be perfectly alright soon with your wishes. I request all those who had come in contact with me in the last couple of days to get tested as a precaution,” Patil tweeted.

Congress’ Bengaluru legislator Dinesh Gundu Rao had tested positive on Sunday.

“Patil had also attended the week-long Assembly Monsoon Session from September 21-26 after he tested negative on September 18 during mandatory tests for all lawmakers,” Gowda said.

As about 60 legislators had tested positive, Assembly Speaker Vishwanath Kageri Hegde had reduced the 8-day session to 6 days and adjourned the House sine die on Saturday night.

Among the lawmakers infected recently are Deputy Chief Ministers Govind Karjol and CN Ashwath Narayan, Home Minister Basavarj Bommai, Food and Civil Supplies Minister K Gopalaiah, Urban Development Minister Byrathi Basavaraj, and Animal Husbandry Minister Prabhu Chauhan.

Covid-19 may cause global tsunami of mental health problems

0

Researchers, including one of Indian-origin, have found that Covid-19 pandemic will cause a global tsunami of mental health problems.

Mental health problems were already a leading cause of suffering and the most neglected health issue globally before the pandemic,” said study author Vikram Patel from Harvard University in the US.

“The pandemic will, through worsening the social determinants of mental health, fuel a worsening of this crisis,” Patel added.

The study, scheduled to be presented at the ESCMID Conference on Coronavirus Disease (ECCVID) in the US, revealed that the pressures on mental health, that already existed in abundance before this global pandemic, are increasing at an alarming rate.

There are so many issues which affect large sections of the population, including worries about jobs and income security, social exclusion, school closures and working from home creating huge pressure on families,” Patel said.

“There are also disruptions to medical services and care, potential domestic violence situations, and the varying levels of fear people have of being infected by this new virus,” he stressed.

The pandemic threatens to reverse years of global development, including in the countries that can least afford to start going backwards.

In August 2020, World Bank President David Malpass predicted as many as 100 million people will be pushed back into extreme poverty.

As a result of the global economic recession, the mental health tsunami is going to sweep through all countries, rich and poor.

“The 2008 recession, which largely affected only the US, was followed by a wave of ‘deaths of despair’ in the US, driven by suicide and substance use,” Patel said.

He pointed out that Covid-19 arrived, there was already a global mental health crisis.

According to the researchers, the relative burden of mental and substance use disorders increased by nearly 50 per cent in the past 25 years.

“These disorders now account for one in every ten years of lost health globally and suicide rates in young people are rising in many countries,” the study authors wrote.

“I believe the pandemic presents a historic opportunity to reimagine mental health care, by realising the science which demonstrates that we must reframe mental health beyond a narrow focus on diagnoses, doctors and drugs,” Patel concluded.

0

Samsung India on Monday announced that it has provided scholarships to 517 students at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and National Institute of Technology (NIT), as part of its ‘Samsung Star Scholar programme’.

These scholarships are offered every year to financially support less privileged students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) schools who qualify to these prestigious engineering colleges, the company said in a statement.

The programme offers a scholarship of up to Rs 2 lakh for expenses related to tuition, examination, hostel and mess for one academic year and it can be renewed every year up to 5 years.

Started in 2016, Samsung Star Scholar programme, now in its fifth year, has so far benefitted 650 JNV students.

“Samsung Star Scholar programme is an extension of this effort and we are very pleased that this year despite the challenges on the ground, we have been able to reach out to these gifted students,” said Peter Rhee, Corporate Vice President and Deputy Managing Director, Samsung India.

Under this annual programme, the company offers scholarships to meritorious students pursuing full-term B. Tech/Dual Degree (B.Tech and M.Tech) course at any IIT or NIT.

Don’t compare Samson with Dhoni: Gambhir, Sreesanth

0

While all the limelight was taken away by Rahul Tewatia during Rajasthan Royals’ historic win over Kings XI Punjab, it was the incredible innings from Sanju Samson which laid the platform for the Steve Smith-led side during their chase at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

Samson scored 85 runs as Royals chased down the target of 224 — highest ever in history of the Indian Premier League — with four wickets in hand and three balls to spare. His 42-ball knock was studded with four 4s and seven 6s.

Taking note of Samson’s innings on Sunday, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said on Twitter: “What an absolutely incredible win for Rajasthan Royals! I’ve known Sanju Samson for a decade and told him when he was 14 that he would one day be the next MS Dhoni. Well, that day is here. After his two amazing innings in this IPL, you know a world-class player has arrived.”

However, Gautam Gambhir and S Sreesanth don’t want the 25-year-old to be compared with the former India captain.

“Sanju Samson doesn’t need to be next anyone. He will be ‘the’ Sanju Samson of Indian cricket,” tweeted Gambhir replying to Tharoor.

“He is not next Dhoni, he is Sanju Samson the one and only. He should have been playing from 2015 regularly in all formats. Please don’t compare him, if he had given right opportunities then, he would have been playing like this for India and would have won World Cups,” said Sreesanth while replying to the Congress MP.

“I am sure he will still keep playing well and it’s not just these two innings…He is gonna break a lot of records too and win many more world cups for our country. So please don’t compare him to anyone…he is an amazing Malayali from our Gods own country. His best is yet to come,” he added.

The right-handed batsman had scored 74 runs off just 32 deliveries in Royals’ first match of IPL 2020 which his side won against Chennai Super Kings by 16 runs.

Rajasthan Royals brand ambassador Shane Warne had praised Samson and said it was shocking to see that a talent like Samson is not a part of Team India across all formats.

“I have said for a long time and I think Sanju Samson is probably one of the most exciting players I have seen for a long time. I am surprised that he is not playing all forms of cricket for India,” Warne had said in an Instagram live session done by the Royals before Sunday’s game.

“He is that good. He is an absolute champion, he has got all the shots, quality and class. So, hopefully he has a consistent year and helps Rajasthan Royals lift the IPL trophy and I hope to see in him Indian colours in all three forms of cricket,” he had added.

Samson has so far represented India in just four T20Is in which he has amassed 35 runs in total.

NASA picks SpaceX for $109.4mn launch services of IMAP mission

0

NASA has selected SpaceX to provide launch services for the agencys Interstellar Mapping and Acceleration Probe (IMAP) mission which will help researchers better understand the boundary of the heliosphere, a magnetic barrier surrounding our solar system.

The total cost to launch IMAP and the secondary payloads will be approximately $109.4 million, which includes the launch service and other mission related costs, NASA said.

The boundary of the heliosphere region is where the constant flow of particles from our Sun, called the solar wind, collides with winds from other stars.

This collision limits the amount of harmful cosmic radiation entering the heliosphere.

The IMAP will collect and map neutral particles that make it through, as well as investigate the fundamental processes of how particles are accelerated in space, from its vantage point orbiting the Sun at the Lagrange 1 point directly between the Sun and Earth.

The secondary payloads to be included with the launch of IMAP are: NASA’s Lunar Trailblazer mission, two additional NASA heliophysics missions of opportunity yet to be named, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Space Weather Follow On-Lagrange 1 (SWFO-L1) mission.

The IMAP mission is targeted to launch in October 2024 on a Falcon 9 Full Thrust rocket from Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida, NASA said.

Bam Adebayo stars as Miami Heat reach NBA Finals

0

Bam Adebayo had taken the blame for Miami Heat’s loss in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals against Boston Celtics. However, he made it up in Game 6 with 32 points and 14 rebounds, taking his side to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2014.

Heat defeated Celtics 125-113 to win the series 4-2 late Sunday and will now compete against LA Lakers for their fourth NBA title. This also makes Heat the only franchise to appear in the NBA Finals six times in the last 15 years.

“Bam Adebayo is going to become one of the great winners in history just because he’s so competitive. He moves the needle in every single way. You can’t put an analytic to his game and that’s probably why he was overlooked in college. He competes every single possession. He wants the responsibility, and he wants the accountability, and he isn’t afraid of putting that responsibility on his shoulders,” said Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra.

Celtics head coach Brad Stevens said that Heat’s physicality made the difference. “They are strong, physical and tough. My regret would be the outcome of the series, but I don’t regret the work we put in or how we prepared or how hard the guys worked. There are other teams out there and they deserve credit for taking advantage of every circumstance,” said Stevens.

The head coach added that the Celtics players gave it everything they had in the Eastern Conference Finals. “I thought we did a lot of tough things too. I thought our guys tried to play physical, but it’s more of a credit to them, it’s nothing against our guys at all. Miami made great plays and I credit them for that. They are a super team and have a super coach,” said Stevens.
