Russian hackers targeted Tesla factory in US: Elon Musk

0

Tesla CEO Elon Musk on Friday confirmed that Russian hackers tried to break into the network of electric car-makers Nevada factory in the US.

Earlier this week, the US authorities arrested and charged a Russian national for trying to recruit a Tesla employee to install malware on the company’s network for $1 million.

Several media organizations reported that the attack targeted Tesla which operates a mega-factory near Reno, Nevada, reports ZDNet.

“Much appreciated. This was a serious attack,” Musk replied to his followers on Twitter.

According to court documents, a 27-year-old Russian named Egor Igorevich Kriuchkov reached out to one of Tesla’s employees via WhatsApp.

The two had previously met four years ago.

Kriuchkov revealed to the Tesla employee that he was working with a Russian-based hacker group and “proposed the employee to install a piece of custom-built malware on Tesla’s internal network”.

“The plan was to steal sensitive Tesla files and then threaten to release the data unless Tesla paid a huge ransom demand”.

The FBI arrested Kriuchkov earlier this week who, if found guilty, can face up to five years in prison, the report said.

Several Musk followers asked him to reward the Tesla employee who did not fall for $1 million.

“Give that boy a bonus!” said one follower.

Another wrote to Musk: “Someone should give him some stock options, helps promote a team atmosphere”.

Facebook invites people to explore Horizon VR project

0

Facebook has invited people to join its Horizon project which is a social experience where people can explore, play, and create with others in virtual reality (VR) in one place.

To begin with, the invite-only beta will be available on Oculus Quest and the Rift Platform in the US and Canada.

Facebook will add more people over time and those interested can add their names to the beta waitlist, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

“We’ve been testing Horizon with an early group of creators. And in the coming weeks, we’ll start bringing some people from the waitlist into Horizon’s invite-only beta,” Facebook said.

In Horizon, people can build the things they want to see and places they want to visit via the VR technology.

“Eventually, we envision large spaces where many people can gather in Horizon, but for now, up to eight people can share a space,” Facebook said.

Everyone in Horizon must follow the Oculus Code of Conduct.

“You can access a personal Safe Zone through your wrist menu at any time in Horizon. Once you’re in your personal Safe Zone, you can mute, block or report people and content around you,” Facebook informed.

If you mute, block or report someone, a trained safety specialist, who will not appear as an avatar, may remotely observe and record the situation to ensure your safety.

“We’ll soon introduce a feature to make it easier for you to submit reports in Horizon,” the company said.

The social networking giant renamed its augmented reality/virtual reality (AR-VR) team as Facebook Reality Labs this week, as the company starts to build the next-gen computing platform for deeper immersive experiences.

The company will organize its annual conference ‘Facebook Connect’ virtually on September 16 that will be free for everyone to attend.

Squash ace Ghosal eyes good performances at Platinum events

0

Back in the mix after a long break, Asian Gold medallist Saurav Ghosal is keen to put his best foot forward in the upcoming Platinum events as he aims to climb up the rankings ladder.

Ghosal, India’s top squash player, had his plate full with an eye on making it to the PSA World Tour Finals in Cairo, Egypt in the third week of June when he returned to the city from London in March.

The 34-year old was taking part in the Canary Wharf Classic where he lost in the quarterfinals to eventual champion Mohamed El Shorbagy.

With the new PSA calendar out now after things were thrown out of gear due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 13th-ranked Ghosal is hopeful of playing in five Platinum events starting with the Egyptian Open in October.

“Since August 1, Ramit Tandon and I have been playing together at the Racket Club. It’s been a while since we got back on the court. Kolkata is hot and humid so we are trying to keep the quality up as much as possible. It’s nice to play again,” Ghosal told IANS in an interview.

The squash calendar will start with the Silver category Manchester Open from September 16-22. But Ghosal is unsure of taking part in it due to the prevailing situation. “I am not sure whether I will be playing that, I will decide in the next 10 days,” he said.

“Then we have five Platinum events, starting with the Egyptian Open in Cairo from October 5. Then it goes on from there till December where we have three in Egypt, one in Qatar and one in Hong Kong. Those are five plates of Platinum I am pretty much confirmed to play in. About Manchester, I am still not sure about flight issues and all. So I will take a call next week.”

Asked about his chances of making the cut for the PSA World Tour Finals, Ghosal said: “The PSA World Tour Finals are on September 27 as of now. I am No. 10 on the list. So, two people need to pull out for me to feature in it. We will see how it goes.”

Ghosal’s aim is to put up an improved performance in the upcoming events. “I definitely want to get up the rankings. Everyone wants to be world No.1. There are a lot of steps in the ladder to take to have a realistic shot at that. So, my focus is on playing better. I want to start playing exceedingly well in the Platinum events. Try to go deep into the draws and win some. That’s what I am trying to do,” said Ghosal when quizzed about his immediate goals with the resumption of the sport post the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ghosal will be hosting an eight-part web series titled ‘The Finish Line’ which documents eight defining moments of Indian sports by recreating the moment by the actual athletes.

From Abhinav Bindra’s Olympic gold-winning moment in 2008 to Dinesh Karthik’s heroics at the Nidahas Trophy to Parul Parmar’s World Championship win in 2017 to Leander Paes’s Olympic bronze medal win in 1996, the series will take the viewers back down memory lane and will give them a first-hand account of these historic moments.

“I have always wanted to do something like. There are a lot of stories people don’t know about. Hopefully, all our viewers can take a lot of inspiration from their journeys,” he said.

FCM test notifications flood Microsoft Teams users on phones

0

Microsoft said it was working on to fix an issue that has resulted in its Meet users receiving multiple text notifications on their mobile devices.

Several Google Meet users took to social media platforms like Twitter, Reddit, and Microsoft tech community pages late on Thursday to report they were receiving ‘FCM Messages’ on their smartphones.

Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) is a free service from Google that lets users reliably deliver push notifications at no cost. People can send two types of messages with FCM — notification messages and data messages.

Microsoft said they were investigating an issue where users are receiving Test notifications on their mobile devices.

“Further updates will be provided under the SI TM221041 in your admin center,” Microsoft 365 Twitter handle commented.

“Our investigation has determined that this issue affects Android users specifically, and we’re working on applying mitigation. We recommend dismissing these notifications without interacting with them,” it added.

Recently, Google Hangouts users also received FCM Messages test notifications.

These two incidents may be connected to a vulnerability in Google’s push notification service Firebase Cloud Messaging.

A Microsoft Team user posted: “A couple of our users received random notifications on the Teams mobile app this morning. The notification states ‘FCM Message’. Anyone have an idea what’s going on?”

“I received 5 notifications this morning ‘FCM Messages Test Notifications!!!!’ seems it is related to an exploit let’s hope that Microsoft or Google plug it soon, otherwise I’ll be uninstalling the Teams app on my phone,” another commented on Microsoft tech community page.

Video meet app Google Duo arriving on Android TV

0

Video calling app Google Duo is coming to Android TVs and the company is rolling out a Beta on Android TV in the coming weeks globally.

With Google Duo, people can initiate one-on-one and group calls from their TVs.

If the TV doesn’t have a camera built-in, people can simply plug in a USB camera.

Beyond TVs, Duo and Google Meet also work seamlessly with Nest Hub Max.

“2020 may go down as the year of the video call. It’s become an indispensable tool, one we all use more than we likely would have imagined,” said TJ Varghese, Group Product Manager, Google Meet hardware.

With Google Meet on Cast, you can also use TV or a Smart Display.

“Whether you want to step away from the notifications on your laptop or phone to be more present in a meeting or you’re on mute in a larger meeting and want to concentrate on your task at hand, casting to your TV can help you be more productive and stay focused,” Varghese said in a statement on Thursday.

Meet and Cast can also pair up to simplify distance learning.

Students can view their classmates and lesson plans on the big screen while working from their laptops, and teachers can get a broader view of their students on a call.

Google Cast functionality is available for all Meet users, and casting works on Chromecast, TVs with built-in Chromecasts, and Nest displays.

“With the Acer Chromebase and ASUS Remote Meet Kit from Google Meet hardware, the users can elevate work-from-home space into a dedicated home office,” the company said.

Google Meet hardware syncs automatically with Google Calendar so people can join meetings with a single touch.

Dani Alves undergoes surgery on broken arm

0

Sao Paulo vice-captain Dani Alves has undergone surgery to repair the broken right forearm, the Brazilian Serie A club has said.

The 37-year-old suffered the injury in the second half of his team’s 1-0 home victory over Athletico Paranaense on Wednesday, a result that left Sao Paulo third in the 20-team league standings.

“We cannot forecast the recuperation period but we hope it will be (short) because it is an aligned fracture with a good recovery prognosis,” club doctor Jose Sanchez said in a statement on Sao Paulo’s official website on Thursday, reports Xinhua news agency.

Alves joined Sao Paulo as a free agent last July after his contract expired with Paris Saint-Germain.

The defender-turned-midfielder has been capped 118 times for Brazil and is the most decorated professional footballer in history with 43 trophies over a career spanning two decades.

CPL: St Lucia Zouks, Trinbago Knight Riders continue winning streak

0

The spinners, led by an evergreen Mohammad Nabi, helped St Lucia Zouks to a convincing six-wicket win over the St Kitts and Nevis Patriots in Match 15 of the ongoing Caribbean Premier League.

Daren Sammy’s side dominated Thursday’s contest right from the get-go, restricting the Patriots to a paltry score of 110/9; and chased down the target within 15 overs to consolidate their position towards the top of the table.

Batting first, Patriots didn’t have an answer against Nabi as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Alzarri Joseph, however, played a useful cameo in the end, as his team got 37 runs off the final three overs to end with a score of 110/9, giving them a bleak chance of defending it in the second innings. Nabi was the pick of the bowlers as he returned with figures of 5/15 in his 4 overs.

Zouks then chased down the total riding on the knocks from Roston Chase (27) and Najibullah Zadran (33) in 14.4 overs.

Meanwhile, Trinbago Knight Riders also continued their dominance in the CPL, bowling, and fielding superbly to blow away the Guyana Amazon Warriors top order and completing what could have been a tricky chase on a slow pitch with time to spare in the other game of the day.

Batting first, Warriors posted 115/3 in their allotted 20 overs, riding on 28 not out from Keemo Paul. Shimron Hetymer and Ross Taylor also contributed with 26 runs each and helped their team reach a respectable total.

However, Riders didn’t find any difficulty in chasing down the target as their rode on unbeaten knocks of 39 and 28 from Tim Seifert and Darren Bravo respectively, and got past the finishing line with 10 balls to spare.

Brief scores: St Lucia Zouks 111/4 (Najibullah 33; Imran 3/23) beat St Kitts & Nevis Patriots 110/9 (Dunk 33; Nabi 5/15) by 6 wickets

Brief scores: Trinbago Knight Riders 115/3 (Seifert 39; Tahir 2/25) beat Guyana Amazon Warriors 112/7 (Paul 28; Pierre 3/18 by 7 wickets

FB sues developers for collecting users’ data, selling fake likes

0

Facebook has filed lawsuits against a UK-based app developer for illegally harvesting the data of its users and another developer in the US for operating a fake engagement service on Instagram.

Facebook sued MobiBurn, OakSmart Technologies and its founder Fatih Haltas in the High Court of Justice in London for failing to fully comply with its audit request.

MobiBurn collected user data from Facebook and other social media companies by paying app developers to install a malicious Software Development Kit (SDK) in their apps, Facebook said in a statement on Thursday.

When people installed those apps on their devices, MobiBurn collected information from the devices and requested data from Facebook, including the person’s name, time zone, email address, and gender.

“MobiBurn did not compromise Facebook, instead they used the malicious SDK on the users’ devices to collect information,” the social network informed.

Security researchers first flagged MobiBurn’s behavior as part of the Facebook data abuse bounty program.

In a separate case, Facebook sued Nikolay Holper in federal court in San Francisco for operating a fake engagement service known as Nakrutka on Instagram.

Holper used a network of bots and automation software to distribute fake likes, comments, views, and followers on Instagram

“He used different websites to sell fake engagement services to Instagram users,” Facebook said.

Facebook disabled accounts associated with Holper and his service, formally warned him that he was in violation of our Terms, and sent a cease and desist letter.

This is the first time Facebook is pursuing a lawsuit against an app developer in the UK.

Facebook has been cracking down on developers after the Cambridge Analytica scandal, which saw the personal data of 87 million users compromised.

Mobile app for online training of NCC cadets launched

0

Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh launched a mobile training application on Thursday that will assist in conducting countrywide online training of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets.

In view of the restrictions imposed by Covid-19, training of NCC cadets has been affected adversely as it is mostly contact-based training.

“Since schools and colleges are not likely to open in near future, a need was felt that training to NCC cadets should be imparted utilizing the digital medium,” the Defence Ministry said.

Rajnath Singh also interacted with the NCC cadets through video conferencing during the launch of the application and also answered their questions.

In his address to the cadets, he said the app will be useful to them in digital learning and overcoming the difficulties posed by Covid-19 due to restrictions on direct physical interactions. But if one moves ahead with determination and self-confidence, he or she would be able to clear all hurdles and achieve success, he added.

The Defence Minister praised the contribution of more than one lakh NCC cadets who supported the frontline corona warriors by executing various tasks in the fight against the pandemic.

The Directorate General National Cadet Corps mobile training application aims at providing NCC cadets entire training material, syllabus, precis, training videos, and frequently asked questions, on one platform.

The app has been made interactive by including a query option. By using this option, a cadet can post his question related to the training syllabus and the same will be answered by a panel of qualified instructors.

Hamas extends Gaza lockdown for additional 72 hours

0

The Islamic Hamas movement announced that it has decided to extend the lockdown imposed on the Gaza Strip for an additional 72 hours in an effort to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Undersecretary of the Interior Ministry, Tawfiq Abu N’iem, said the decision was taken “because the Gaza Strip is facing a critical stage in light of the coronavirus outbreak”, reports Xinhua news agency.

He indicated that besides the full lockdown, the Ministry will isolate five Gaza Strip districts and will close some neighborhoods to prevent the spread of the virus in the besieged coastal enclave.

“It is possible that we would restore some additional measures in the coming hours to curb the virus,” Abu N’iem said, adding that the Ministry will facilitate providing citizens with their basic needs during the lockdown.

Meanwhile, undersecretary of the Hamas-run ministry of health in Gaza, Yousef Abu el-Reesh, told reporters that the Gaza Strip is passing through a new phase to combat the coronavirus.

“This stage requires the highest degree of attention and adherence to preventive health measures,” he added, referring to staying indoor and only leaving home for an emergency.

Since the outbreak of the deadly virus in Palestine, the Islamic Hamas movement, which has ruled the Gaza Strip since 2007, held all travelers who returned to the enclave in quarantine far from populated areas.

On Monday, Hamas announced that it recorded four Covid-19 cases in the coastal enclave’s populated areas, which led to a 48-hour lockdown.

2,795 new COVID-19 cases in Telangana, tally at 1,14,483

0

Telangana on Thursday reported 2,795 new Covid-19 cases and eight deaths, taking the state’s tally to 1,14,483 while the death toll has climbed to 788.

A day after recording the highest single-day spike with 3,018 cases, the numbers declined across the state. This was despite the authorities conducting more than 60,000 tests in the last 24 hours. Till 8 pm on Wednesday, 60,386 tests were conducted while 61,040 samples were tested on Tuesday. In total, 11,42,480 tests have been done until now, according to the state’s health department.

Facing flak for its poor testing rate, the Telangana government has doubled the daily number of tests. During the last five days, more than 2.5 lakh tests were conducted.

As many as 16 governments and 31 private laboratories were conducting RT-PCR/CBNAAT/TRUENAT type of tests while there were 1,076 rapid-antigen test centers. However, unlike the neighboring Andhra Pradesh, the authorities in Telangana have not given the breakup of the type of tests conducted.

They claim that with 30,772 samples tested per million population, the state had conducted a higher number of tests against a daily testing target of 5,600 as per the World Health Organisation (WHO) benchmark of 140 per million per day.

Health officials said the Covid-19 cases fatality rate in the state came down further to 0.68 per cent against the national average of 1.84 per cent. Of the fatalities, 53.87 percent had comorbidities.

The number of active cases in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) declined to 449 from 475 on Wednesday. Rangareddy and Medchal Malkajgiri districts abutting GHMC reported 268 and 113 new cases respectively. Sangareddy, another district bordering the state capital, reported 34 new cases.

Outside GHMC and the surrounding districts, Nalgonda was the worst-affected district with 164 new cases, followed by Khammam with 152 cases, Karimnagar (136), Warangal Urban (132), Siddipet (113) and Nizamabad with (112). Mancherial reported 106 cases, Mahabubabad 102, Jagtiyal 89, Suryapet 86, Bhadradri Kothagudem 72, and Wanaparthy 55.

During the last 24 hours, 872 people recovered from Covid-19, taking the total number of recoveries to 86,095. The state’s recovery rate stands at 75.2 per cent against the national average of 76.28 per cent.

The number of active cases in the state stands at 27,600, including 20,866 in-home/institutional isolation.

Age-wise COVID-positive details show that 65.3 percent of those testing positive were in the age group of 21-50 years. Terming this as a susceptible age group, authorities have urged them not to go out unless absolutely necessary. They were advised to strictly exercise precautions like wearing face masks and maintain social distancing.

Among Covid-19 positive cases, 24.71 percent were above 51 years. Nearly 10 percent were aged below 20 years.

Officials said 64.41 percent of those testing positive were male while the remaining 35.59 percent were female.

According to the media release, of 20,396 beds in government-run hospitals, 17,958 beds were vacant, including 1,590 ICU beds and 4,756 oxygen beds.

US CDC changes guidelines for Covid-19 testing

0

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has changed its Covid-19 testing guidelines, which no longer recommends testing for most people without symptoms.

The new guidelines, updated earlier this week, asks people to get tested if they have coronavirus symptoms or have had close contact (within 6 feet of an infected person for at least 15 minutes), or have been asked or referred to get testing by their healthcare provider, local or state health department, reports Xinhua news agency.

“Not everyone needs to be tested,” said the new guidelines.

Previously, the CDC said viral testing was appropriate for people with recent or suspected exposure, even if they were asymptomatic.

The updated guidelines prompted concerns from some doctors and experts, who warned asymptomatic carriers to play a major role in spreading Covid-19.

Testing and isolating those silent emitters are vital to containing the spread of the pandemic, experts said.

The US currently accounts for the world’s highest number of cases and deaths at 5,821,195 and 179,708 respectively.

Salesforce to sack 1,000 employees after robust quarter results

0

After posting robust results for the June quarter, leading Cloud software company is laying off nearly 1,000 employees as it is “reallocating resources” in an effort to maintain its “continued growth”.

Salesforce which has nearly 54,000 employees in 66 offices around the world, has begun the layoffs this week that will affect employees worldwide, Fortune reported on Thursday.

The layoffs came as the company posted second-quarter sales of $5.15 billion, beating the Wall Street estimates.

The company also raised its revenue guidance for fiscal 2021, from $20 billion to between $20.7 billion and $20.8 billion.

The job cuts “will be in nearly every business unit”.

“We’re reallocating resources to position the company for continued growth. This includes continuing to hire and redirecting some employees to fuel our strategic areas, and eliminating some positions that no longer map to our business priorities,” a Salesforce spokesperson said in a statement.

One person wrote anonymously on TheLayoff they (Salesforce) have confirmed between 1,000 and 2,000 employees will be let go this week, “mostly within the sales organization and sub-teams within specialists and enablement.”

A Salesforce spokesperson told CRN that “for affected employees, we are helping them find the next step in their careers, whether within our company or a new opportunity”.

In March, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff said the company would not ‘significantly’ lay off people over a three-month period and would pay its hourly workers as the offices were closed.

The period has since passed.

Salesforce said last week that its employees can work from home until at least July 31, 2021.

The Salesforce layoffs came as a global professional services company Accenture which has over 5 lakh employees worldwide announced to cut at least 5 percent of its ‘low-performing’ workforce owing to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

Microsoft-owned LinkedIn said in July that it would lay off 960 employees.

Saif Ali Khan: Have experienced politics, nepotism, favouritism

Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan got upset when people ridiculed him for saying that he has been a victim of nepotism, and says he has battled dark times and phases of lonely struggle.

The actor also revealed that he has been thrown out of his own film in the past.

“I don’t think I’ve had it particularly easy, even though some people will say ‘oh, of course, you have’! But I’ve done a lot of stuff that a lot of people wouldn’t have done. I mean I’ve played the third lead in some dodgy films like ‘Suraksha’ and ‘Ek Tha Raja’, which nobody has heard of,” Saif said.

“But I never thought what the hell am I doing here. I knew what I was doing there. I was trying to get paid and trying to do this job. I knew it wasn’t going anywhere and I was like ‘okay’. But it helps when you’re 25. It’s alright not be going anywhere if you’re 25 but you don’t want to be there at 50 for sure. But a job’s a job, right?” he added.

Opening up about politics in Bollywood, Saif said: “There are stories like a film might have come or gone, usually, it’s me and then once or twice somebody’s rung up and said ‘oh, I don’t know, this film that we offered you might not be offered to you anymore because there’s been some politics behind the scene’, so you’re like ‘ok wow’. So, all that has happened.”

“Earlier I made a comment in an interview saying ‘I’ve also suffered from nepotism’, I’m laughing about it. The point is, that this industry is not the Red Cross. I mean, there are all kinds of things that happen. There is politics and manipulation and control. I’ve never even been at that level where people are calling the shots. I mean, everyone is in it for themselves. They can control it if they have a certain amount for power, so they do,” he added.

Saif continued: “So, I have been in a situation a couple of times in my career where I’ve been offered something, it’s been done. It’s on paper, and the next day I’ve got a phone call saying, ‘it’s gone’. I’m like, ‘what do you mean it’s gone?’ They’re like ‘we can’t help it, it’s out of our hands, someone important has rung up and said, it’s got to be this way, so sorry’. The first time it happened, I couldn’t do anything about it because I was too young, and the second time they tried to do it I made a few phone calls myself and said that you can’t do this and made a big fuss. Then it came back, and my manager said ‘wow’.”

“When anything unfair happens, I don’t think it is right. That’s why I got upset with people ridiculing me for saying I have been a victim of nepotism because I’ve also worked hard. People have images in their head that you’re all privileged and you’ve got a palace and what does it even mean to you. But we’ve had our pretty dark times and our lonely struggles, every one of us has — especially in my time, I mean, Akshay Kumar would know what I’ve been through and I know what he’s been through,” said the actor during a conversation with actress Neha Dhupia in a podcast of “JioSaavn #NoFilterNeha” season five.

However, Saif, who is the son of veteran star Sharmila Tagore and legendary former India captain Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi, looks back at his journey in Bollywood with gratitude.

“I got thrown out of my own movie so we’ve experienced politics, we’ve experienced nepotism. We’ve experienced favoritism, people changing their minds for whatever reason, getting a better offer. The vicissitudes of the industry — you know the ups and downs of things that happen and therefore, at a certain age you become a bit philosophical, you say ‘let me just be happy with what I’m doing’,” he said.

“But generally, it’s been a really pleasant experience and with lovely people. I think this industry is wonderful and I think it’s a meritocracy and it does, it’s very non-judgmental, you could be anything and it is one profession where, I think Jackie Shroff once said, a spot boy can be a superstar,” he concluded.

Microsoft-owned GitHub moves to Ruby 2.7 for faster performance

0

Microsoft-owned open-source code repository GitHub has announced it is upgrading to Ruby 2.7 programming language to allow faster performance for over 50 million developers on its platform.

Ruby 2.7 is a unique upgrade because the team has deprecated how keyword arguments behave.

“With this release, future versions of Ruby will no longer accept passing an options hash when a method expects keyword arguments,” the company said in a blog post.

“At GitHub, we’re committed to running deprecation-free on both Ruby and Rails to prevent falling behind on future upgrades”.

In order to run Ruby 2.7 deprecation-free, GitHub said it had to fix over 11,000 warnings.

“Regardless of how hard this upgrade was, we saw an impressive improvement in performance. The Ruby Core team is well on their way to fulfilling the promise of Ruby 3.0 being 3x faster,” the company said.

This faster boot time means faster deploys which means you get our features, bug fixes, and performance improvements faster as well.

“In addition to an improvement in boot time, we saw a decrease in object allocations that affects available memory so it’s important to lower these numbers whenever possible”, GitHub said.

Founded in 2008, GitHub became a platform following the introduction of its Developer Programme in 2014.

Microsoft acquired GitHub for $7.5 billion in stock and completed the acquisition in 2018.

2 mobile numbers that gave away Rhea’s dark secrets

The central probe agencies looking into the death of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput have tumbled upon the startling conversation of his girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty with a number of her close aides which has changed the course of the probe.

When CBI’s SIT landed in Mumbai, their top priority was to crack down the digital footprints of Rhea Chakraborty and her associates. Since the incident had happened in June, the central agencies feared that all efforts must have been made by the suspects to wipe out any evidence.

The federal agencies confiscated two mobile phones which were examined. Since most of the data had already disappeared, they cloned them to retrieve the deleted data. It leads to sensational findings that indicted several players including Rhea in the case.

Internal documents accessed by IANS reveals the painstaking works done by the agencies and Rhea’s alleged bank fraud and suspicious nexus with the drug peddlers.

Rhea allegedly stole Sushant’s debit cards passwords and to do it she took the help of Samuel Miranda, the house manager of the actor, sources said.

The 34-year-old actor was found dead under mysterious circumstances in his Bandra flat in Mumbai on June 14, and Rhea was named the prime suspect by his family in a case registered at a Patna police station on July 25.

Following Sushant’s demise, Rhea and Miranda were using the late actor’s funds for their own purposes.

Internal documents stated: “They (Rhea and Samuel) were working in close coordination and were using funds of Sushant Singh Rajput for their own purpose.”

The revelation came during questioning of Miranda by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials separately earlier this month.

The agencies are probing why Rhea stole passwords of Sushant’s debit cards. The agencies also found that Rhea was into drugs and Miranda was also deeply involved in it with her.

After Rhea’s nexus with the drug peddlers came out in the open, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) was roped in. The bureau accordingly registered a case and started a probe into the matter.

It was on August 6, after a recommendation by the Bihar government, the CBI had taken over the probe from the Bihar Police on the orders of the central government following an FIR lodged by the deceased’s father at Patna’s Rajiv Nagar police station.

The case was registered against Rhea Chakraborty, her father Indrajit, mother Sandhya, brother Show, Sushant’s ex-manager Shruti Modi and house manager Samuel Miranda and unknown persons on the basis of KK Singh’s complaint.

The ED had registered the money laundering on July 31 on the basis of the Patna Police FIR. Singh had alleged that Rs 15 crore was transacted to unknown bank accounts from Sushant’s Kotak Mahindra bank account.

Rhea and her family have been accused by the late actor’s father of abetting his son’s suicide alienating him from his kin.
