Market Update: Gold Price Remains Stable and Rise in Silver
On Tuesday, the gold price remained unchanged at Rs 63,200 per 10 grams in Delhi, as reported by HDFC Securities. Meanwhile, silver saw an increase of Rs 450 per kilogram, reaching Rs 76,750; it had settled at Rs 76,300 in the previous trade.
In the futures market, the February gold price contract rose by Rs 261 to reach Rs 62,356 per 10 grams on the MCX. Additionally, the March silver contract advanced by Rs 176, reaching Rs 72,603 per kilogram on the exchange.
In the global markets, gold and silver are trading slightly higher at USD 2,031 per ounce and USD 23.10 per ounce, respectively.
Spot gold at Comex is currently trading at USD 2,031 per ounce, up by USD 2 from the previous close in the international markets.
Navneet Damani, senior VP of commodity research at Motilal Oswal Financial Services, mentioned that gold traded steadily after a slight decrease in the previous session. This was due to stronger-than-expected US labor data, causing markets to reconsider expectations for early cuts in monetary policy interest rates.

National Sports Awards: Shami Honoured Arjuna Award by President Murmu
India’s best-performing athletes were on Tuesday conferred with the national sports awards by President Droupadi Murmu in a regal ceremony where cricketer Mohammed Shami walked into rapturous applause at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.
On Tuesday, President Droupadi Murmu awarded India’s top athletes at a grand ceremony in Rashtrapati Bhawan. Cricketer Mohammed Shami received applause, and badminton duo Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy got the prestigious Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna for their exceptional 2023 performance, including India’s first-ever Asian Games gold in badminton.
The awards ceremony, usually on August 29, was delayed due to the Hangzhou Asian Games. A joyful atmosphere filled Rashtrapati Bhawan as 26 athletes received the Arjuna Awards.
Chirag and Satwik, now world No.1, are eyeing an Olympic medal in Paris. Shami, recovering from an ankle injury, received honors for his outstanding World Cup performance.

Government sources shared that the idea of a joint-use airfield, catering to both military and commercial needs, has been revisited and is actively progressing. This airfield would offer India strategic advantages by allowing the military to monitor the Arabian Sea and Indian Ocean.
The Indian Coast Guard initially proposed the idea, and now, the Indian Air Force is expected to take the lead in operating the airfield in Minicoy. This move would enhance surveillance capabilities in the Arabian Sea and contribute to the region’s tourism, aligning with the government’s plans.
Currently, the islands have only one airstrip in Agatti, which has limitations on the types of aircraft it can accommodate. The renewed proposal aims to develop a new airport and expand existing facilities.
The recent attention on the island territory, particularly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, has sparked discussions. However, some politicians in the Maldives have criticized India’s efforts to promote Lakshadweep as a tourist destination, expressing their views on social media.
