Sudheer Babu’s Harom Hara Rocking First Sneak Peek Out
Sudheer Babu, known as Nitro Star, has commenced shooting for his next film, Harom Hara, alongside Maama Mascheendra. Hockey Indian Junior Women’s Team
Hockey India on Wednesday named the 18-member Indian Junior Women’s Team for the prestigious Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2023 scheduled to begin from 2nd June in Kakamigahara, Japan.
The Hockey India Indian Junior Women will be up against Korea, Malaysia, Chinese Taipei, and Uzbekistan in Pool A during the group stage while Pool B consists of hosts Japan, China, Kazakhstan, Hong Kong China, and Indonesia. The Women’s Junior Asia Cup 2023 is a crucial event for the Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team as the top three nations from the tournament will qualify for the FIH Junior Women’s Hockey World Cup 2023.
Hockey India’s campaign will be spearheaded by Captain Preeti while Deepika has been named the Vice Captain. Goalkeepers Madhuri Kindo and Aditi Maheshwari have been named in the squad along with defenders Mahima Tete, Preeti, Neelam, Ropni Kumari, and Anjali Barwa. The midfield consists of Rutaja Dadaso Pisal, Manju Chorsiya, Jyoti Chhatri, Vaishnavi Vitthal Phalke, Sujata Kujur, and Manashri Narendra Shedage.
India’s forward line will see the experienced Mumtaz Khan, Vice Captain Deepika, and Deepika Soreng lead the charge along with newcomers Annu and Sunelita Toppo.
Speaking about the team and the campaign, Chief Coach Janneke Schopman said, “It wasn’t easy to select the 18 players for the Junior Asia Cup. The group of players is on par with each other but I think we selected a strong team for the Junior Asia Cup. There is lots of talent in India and it’s great that these young players get a chance to show themselves on the international stage.”
“With Junior World Cup qualification at stake we know we will have to compete every second but I’m excited to see where this team can go,” she added.
The Indian hockey team will begin their campaign against Uzbekistan on June 3 followed by a match against Malaysia on June 5. They will take on Korea on June 6 followed by a match against Chinese Taipei. The Semis will be held on June 10 while the Final will be played on June 11.

Apple has introduced a new Pride Edition Sport Band accompanied by a matching watch face and iOS wallpaper, as the company celebrates the ongoing movement to protect and advance equality for the LGBTQ+ communities around the world.
The Pride Edition Sport Band will be available for Rs 4,500 from May 23 on apple.com and at Apple Store locations beginning May 24. The Pride Edition Sport Band is available in 41 mm and 45 mm sizes and is compatible with Apple Watch Series 3 and later.
The new Pride Celebration watch face and iPhone wallpaper will be available next week, and requires watchOS 9.5 and iOS 16.5. The new Sport Band design showcases the original pride flag rainbow colors and five others black and brown symbolize Black and Latin communities, in addition to those who have passed away from or are living with HIV/AIDS, while light blue, pink, and white represent transgender and nonbinary individuals.
This year’s design integrates a joyful rainbow of geometric shapes on a white base, which is compression-molded into the final band. In the forming process, the base material flows around each individual shape, creating small variations in their layout. No two bands are exactly alike, reflecting the individuality of all members of the LGBTQ+ community, said the company.

India’s ecosystem of suppliers will help drive Walmart‘s goal of exporting goods worth $10 billion annually from the country by 2027, the company’s President and CEO Doug McMillon said on Wednesday.
Addressing Indian suppliers and partners here, McMillon reinforced Walmart’s continued commitment to India and to building an ecosystem of suppliers and partners, including small and medium enterprises.
He also reaffirmed Walmart’s roadmap of strengthening partnerships with Indian communities, expanding opportunities for local businesses, and fostering transformative and innovative solutions for retail from the country to the world.
“Walmart is committed to India and we are here for the long term. We are excited about the Indian suppliers and partners who make quality, affordable, and sustainable products for our customers and members around the world,” he said.
“We are proud that our business can support India’s growth by creating jobs, strengthening communities, and accelerating India’s progress as a manufacturing destination,” McMillon added.
McMillon and Judith McKenna, President, and CEO, of Walmart International, met suppliers, merchants, grantees, artisans, and MSMEs across key India programs and initiatives.
These included Walmart Sourcing, Walmart Vriddhi, Flipkart and Flipkart Samarth, PhonePe, Walmart Marketplace, Walmart Global Tech in India, and the Walmart Foundation.
“As a nation that’s set to be one of the world’s largest economies by 2030, we’re excited to have the opportunity to serve as partners in India’s economic development, aligned with the country’s ambitions,” said McKenna.
The retail giant Walmart said last year that it was offering manufacturers and trading firms in India to reach a growing market of more than 120 million US consumers each month.

Indonesia hosts the 42nd ASEAN Summit
ASEAN Summit kicked off in Indonesia
The 42nd Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit formally kicked off in the Indonesian town of Labuan Bajo on Wednesday, with the country’s President Joko Widodo urging unity and economic integration for the regional bloc to play a central role in regional peace and development.
“With unity, ASEAN will be able to be a central player in bringing peace and development,” he noted in his opening address.
“In the future, ASEAN must strengthen its economic integration, strengthen inclusive cooperation, including the implementation of RCEP (Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership), and strengthen the health, food, and energy architecture, as well as maintain the financial stability,” Xinhua news agency quoted the President as saying.
The summit is expected to produce a roadmap for Timor-Leste’s full membership.
Last November, ASEAN agreed in principle to admit Timor-Leste to be its 11th member.
Timor-Leste’s Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak was present at the summit in observer’s status and delivered a speech following President Widodo’s opening address, stressing a mutual recognition of a strong sense of togetherness in ASEAN community building, and reviewing his country’s major efforts towards the bloc’s membership.
In particular, Ruak thanked Cambodia’s active chairmanship last year, which he said was absolutely critical for his country’s admission in principle as the bloc’s 11th member.
This year, the Summit under Indonesia’s ASEAN chairmanship is themed “ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth”.Indonesia has expressed hope that the bloc will remain a center of regional and global growth, focusing on efforts to make ASEAN a fast-growing, inclusive, and sustainable economic region in the long term.
The Asian Development Bank forecast in early April that developing Asia’s gross domestic product will grow by 4.8 percent this year and in 2024, up from 4.2 percent in 2022, noting growth in the Asia-Pacific region remains resilient.
In the past decade, ASEAN’s average annual growth reached 3.98 percent, above the global economic growth average of 2.6 percent.
ASEAN finance ministers and central bank governors meeting held at the end of March agreed to reinforce the use of local currencies in the region and reduce reliance on major international currencies in an effort to ensure financial stability and avoid spillovers such as high inflation from the global crisis.
The ASEAN, founded in 1967, groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
The last time Indonesia chaired ASEAN was in 2011, after hosting the summits in 1976 and 2003. The country has scheduled the 43rd summit and the East Asia Summit to be held on September 6-7 in the capital Jakarta.

Karnataka recorded an average 8.26 percent voter turnout till 9 a.m. after completion of the first round of voting which is underway on Wednesday to elect the 224-member state Assembly. Varuna constituency from where Opposition leader Siddaramaiah and Housing Minister V. Somanna are contesting

Dakshina Kannada district which witnessed revenge killings and communal tension also saw a large number of voters turning out to polling booths. Sullia recorded a 10.76 percent of voter turnout, Puttur 13.33 percent, Bantwal 11.24 percent, and Mangalore 15.8 percent polling.
Mangalore City South saw 11.95 percent polling, Mangalore City North 12.32 percent, Moodabidri 12.66 percent, and Belthangady 12.01 percent polling. In the Udupi district, Karkal recorded a 14.61 percent turnout, Kapu 13.82 per cent, Udupi 13.45 percent, Kundapura 14.17 percent, and Byndoor 10.81 percent turnout.
Gauribidanur constituency in Chikkaballapur district saw 17.54 percent of the voting. Shivamogga constituency where a Bajrang Dal activist Harsha was allegedly murdered and serious stabbing incidents occurred registered 10.02 percent of voting.
Shiggaon seat from where Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai is contesting recorded 6.72 percent voting. Hubballi-Dharwad Central seat from where former Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar is contesting as a Congress candidate recorded 10.07 percent of voting.
