Ajay Devgn shares glimpse of gravity-defying action in ‘Bholaa’

Actor-filmmaker Ajay Devgn has treated his fans with a six-minute long video of a gravity-defying bike-truck chase sequence shot in 11 days from his upcoming film ‘Bholaa’.

Ajay said: “The action of ‘Bholaa’ is one of the highlights of the film. The truck-bike chase was the toughest to execute. I wish my dad (Veeru Devgn) was around to see the film. He probably would have given me a pat on the back because he spent his lifetime innovating film action.”

“He was in a league by himself. But, he would have understood where I’m coming from. I must add, somewhere what my father did has stayed with me.”

The actor is known as “Mass Maharaja” because he knows the pulse of his audience has become synonymous with doing startling stunts for the last three decades.

Ajay took to Twitter, to treat his fans with the clip and wrote: “Here’s a glimpse of the 6 mins long, bike-truck chase sequence shot in 11 days from Bholaa. Experience the action sequence in IMAX 3D. #BholaaBikeTruckChase #BholaaIn3D #BholaaOn30thMarch
#Tabu #VineetKumar @imsanjaimishra @raogajraj #DeepakDobriyal.”

The highlight of the film is a prolonged bike-truck sequence that was shot over 11 days with fighters, specialists, and supervisors from India and Europe. The bike sequences seen in the teaser and trailer of the film are some of the most impressive sequences. The lead actor himself has performed bike scenes.

The Serbian failed to serve out the match at 5-4 but after missing two match points from 40/0 in the final game, he closed out the match when Murray framed a forehand at the end of an extended rally.

“When I didn’t close it out I thought it was happening again. Honestly that last game I was super right at 40/0 and he was able to put pressure on me. Luckily, he shanked the last forehand, which he normally doesn’t do,” Lajovic was quoted as saying by ATP Tour.

John is one of the greatest servers of all time and sometimes I didn’t even see it (the serve), but it was an amazing match, and I am so happy to be able to win,” Nava said after obtaining his first Masters-1000 win.

The Pakistan Army has decided to conduct the traditional military parade on Pakistan Day on a limited scale to save expenses as part of the government’s austerity measures.

Pakistan Day is celebrated on March 23 every year to commemorate the passage of the Lahore resolution in 1940, which formed the basis of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the subcontinent, The Express Tribune reported.

The main event of the day is the joint military parade of the armed forces of Pakistan.

“The Army stands with the nation in these difficult times,” a source added. The day will begin with a 31-gun salute in the federal capital and a 21-gun salute in the provincial capital.

On the 83rd Pakistan Day, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that “political chaos” was the main reason for the country’s economic instability, Geo News reported.

“The challenges are topped by a combination of economic instability and the inability to settle the rules of the game. An environment of political chaos explains why we have failed to develop our economy on a sustainable basis,” he said.

Govt to seek Parliament’s approval for union budget today

Amid continued disruptions in proceedings of both houses of Parliament with both the ruling BJP and opposition Congress refusing to climb down from their positions, the government will try to get the budget passed in Parliament on Thursday.

While the Congress is seeking a joint parliamentary committee probe in the Adani matter, the BJP has disrupted proceedings, seeking Congress MP Rahul Gandhi’s apology over his remarks on democracy in London.

On Wednesday, the government had got the budget for Jammu and Kashmir passed in Lok Sabha amid noisy protests by the Congress-led opposition without any discussion.

Even the demands for grants for 2022-23 were cleared in the din.

BJP has issued a whip to its members in both Houses to remain present on Thursday and Friday.

According to sources, the government plans to guillotine demands for grants of all ministries and get the finance bill cleared in Lok Sabha.

Sweden’s Parliament endorses country joining NATO

0

Swedish lawmakers have overwhelmingly voted in favor of the country joining NATO.

The vote on Wednesday was 269 in favor and 37 against, reports Xinhua news agency.

Forty-three lawmakers were absent and two of the eight parties represented in the country’s Parliament (Riksdag) — the Left Party and the Green Party — voted against the motion.

Hungary and Turkey remain the last two hold-outs among NATO’s 30 members to ratify the accession of Sweden and Finland to the military alliance.

Also on Wednesday, a proposal tabled by the Left Party and the Green Party to outlaw nuclear weapons on Sweden’s territory in both peace and wartime was voted down in the Riksdag.

Sweden and Finland applied to join NATO in 2022 but faced objections from alliance member Turkey on the grounds that the two countries harbor members of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), considered a terrorist group by Ankara.

The accession needs a unanimous agreement by all members of NATO.

On March 17, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed to ask his country’s Parliament to vote on Finland’s NATO membership bid but delayed that of Sweden, saying Helsinki has taken concrete steps to address Ankara’s security concerns.

Leading job portal Indeed lays off 2,200 employees, CEO ‘heartbroken’

Call it ironic but the leading job portal Indeed which helps thousands land their dream jobs has itself laid off 2,200 employees, or 15 percent of its workforce.

A ‘heartbroken’ Indeed CEO Chris Hyams announced that job cuts come from nearly every team, function, level, and region at Indeed and Indeed Flex.

“We anticipate we will be letting approximately 2,200 people go. This is roughly 15 per cent of our team. The specific decisions on who and where to cut were extremely difficult, but they were made with great care,” he said in a blog post late on Wednesday.

“Leading a company whose mission is to help people get jobs, every single day I think about how important a job is in a person’s life. Losing a job is extraordinarily hard, financially and emotionally,” he added.

The CEO said he will take a 25 per cent cut in base pay. Additionally, more than 75 percent of “my total compensation is directly tied to Indeed revenue growth, and is at risk given current trends,” he said.

The company will share information directly with everyone impacted and everyone outside of the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Japan will receive an email informing them of their status.

If your position has been eliminated, the subject will be “Your Position Has Been Impacted.”

If your position has not been eliminated, the subject will be “Your Position Has Not Been Impacted.”

“In the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands, and Japan, unfortunately, local regulations will mean a longer wait. We will communicate with all of you today to outline the specifics in your region,” said the CEO.

Under the severance agreement, employees will receive 16 weeks of base salary, or two weeks for every year of service, whichever is greater.

“A cash payout equivalent to your RSUs scheduled to vest on May 1. For employees whose initial grant date was August 1, 2022, or later, you will receive a partial payout for RSUs that vest on May 1 with the standard one-year vesting cliff waived,” Hyams informed.

The payout will be calculated at the closing stock price on February 1.

Last quarter, US total job openings were down 3.5 percent year over year, while sponsored job volumes were down 33 percent.

“In the US, we are expecting job openings will likely decrease to pre-pandemic levels of about 7.5 million, or even lower over the next two to three years,” said the company.

Miami Open: Raducanu addresses wrist injury concerns after loss to Andreescu

0

After losing 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 to Bianca Andreescu in the first round of the Miami Open, Emma Raducanu has said that she will take the time to reassess her options regarding the wrist injury she has been nursing during the spring hard-court season.

The British player feels she needs to find a long-term solution to her wrist issue, which began at the end of the 2022 season.

“I just need to review after this tournament really and figure out what my next steps are,” Raducanu told reporters after her loss on Wednesday.

“We have been managing it, keeping on top of it. I’m able to play in the short term. But the current solutions aren’t very viable long term,” she added.

Now ranked No.72, Raducanu, 20, felt the injury flare up during her training ahead of the Indian Wells. After making a last-minute decision to play through the injury, she put together her best run at a tournament since winning the US Open, defeating Australian Open semifinalist Magda Linette and No.13 Beatriz Haddad Maia en route to the Round of 16, where she lost to No.1 Iga Swiatek.

It was a confidence-boosting result for Raducanu, who has been snake-bitten with injuries and illness since her US Open wins in 2021.

“I think that I’m doing the right things day to day, which brings me confidence. I feel like this year has been difficult in the sense that I have been managing a few existing injuries. Yeah, that has been annoying and frustrating because I’ve been working as best as I can,” Raducanu said.

“I feel like I’m enjoying the competition. Yeah, just really, really happy to be on the match court,” she added.

Canada’s Andreescu can relate to Raducanu’s frustration. Like Raducanu, Andreescu lit up the tennis world as a teenager to win the US Open in 2019, but injuries and mental health concerns have interrupted her competitive rhythm ever since.

“I would honestly really, really like to speak to her because of that, because of our similarities. I mean, she’s also Romanian. She was born in Toronto, which is super, super crazy,” Andreescu said.

“Definitely I would love to speak to her, for sure. Maybe we can help each other out,” she added.

Raducanu’s next scheduled event is the Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, German, where she has received a main-draw wild card. Main-draw play begins on April 17.

Four unclaimed bags with suspected explosives were seized from Gwalior Express

General Railway Police (GRP) of Siwan seized four unclaimed bags from Gwalior express, an official said on Thursday.

Suspected materials in the bag appear to be explosives, he added.

Police personnel of GRP was engaged in routine checking to detect liquor bottles when head constable Sabbir Mian found four bags in one of the compartments of the train.

“When our police personnel inquired about the bags, none of the passengers claimed them. We then took the bag to the GRP police station. Since the bags looked suspicious, we informed senior officials and the bomb squad about it,” said Sudhir Kumar, SHO of GRP police station Siwan.

“The bomb squad rushed in and took the bags to a safe zone for defusal,” Kumar said.

“Nature of the substance in the bags is yet to be ascertained. It appears to be explosives. We are in the process of defusing it,” said Shashi Kumar, head of the bomb squad of Siwan.

US SEC sues 8 celebrities, including Lindsay Lohan, for crypto fraud

0

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has sued crypto asset entrepreneur Justin Sun along with eight celebrities — including actress Lindsay Lohan, boxer/influencer Jake Paul, and rapper/producer Soulja Boy — for perpetrating fraud via market manipulation and paying celebrities for crypto endorsements.

The Commission announced charges against Sun and three of his wholly-owned companies, Tron Foundation Limited, BitTorrent Foundation Ltd., and Rainberry Inc. (formerly BitTorrent), for the unregistered offer and sale of crypto asset securities Tronix (TRX) and BitTorrent (BTT).

The SEC simultaneously charged celebrities for “illegally touting TRX and/or BTT without disclosing that they were compensated for doing so and the amount of their compensation”.

The SEC’s complaint, filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, alleged that Sun and his companies offered and sold TRX and BTT as investments through multiple unregistered “bounty programmes”.

These programs directed interested parties to promote the tokens on social media, join and recruit others to Tron-affiliated Telegram and Discord channels, and create BitTorrent accounts in exchange for TRX and BTT distributions.

“This case demonstrates again the high-risk investors face when crypto asset securities are offered and sold without proper disclosure,” said SEC Chair Gary Gensler.

“As alleged, Sun and his companies not only targeted investors in their unregistered offers and sales, generating millions in illegal proceeds at the expense of investors, but they also coordinated wash trading on an unregistered trading platform to create the misleading appearance of active trading in TRX,” Gensler said in a statement.

Sun further induced investors to purchase TRX and BTT by orchestrating a promotional campaign in which he and his celebrity promoters hid the fact that the celebrities were paid for their tweets.

The complaint further alleged that Sun, BitTorrent Foundation, and Rainberry offered and sold BTT in unregistered monthly airdrops to investors, including in the US, who purchased and held TRX in Tron wallets or on participating crypto asset trading platforms.

According to the complaint, each of these unregistered offers and sales violated Section 5 of the Securities Act.

Gurbir S. Grewal, Director of the SEC’s Division of Enforcement, said that Sun and others used an age-old playbook to mislead and harm investors by “first offering securities without complying with registration and disclosure requirements and then manipulating the market for those very securities”.

With the exception of Cortez Way and Mahone, the celebrities charged agreed to pay a total of more than $400,000 in disgorgement, interest, and penalties to settle the charges, without admitting or denying the SEC’s findings.
