The much-hyped Suriya-starrer Retro hit the big screens on May 1, 2025, but its Retro box office performance has been far from impressive. Released alongside Nani’s HIT 3, the film received poor word of mouth in the Telugu states, resulting in low occupancy right from day one.
Negative reviews and lack of audience interest severely impacted Retro’s box office collections, especially in key Telugu-speaking regions. As a result, the film is facing a major downfall and might exit theaters sooner than expected.
Directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Retro features Pooja Hegde as the female lead. Unfortunately, she too faces a setback with this project, marking another flop in her career. Despite the star power and stylish presentation, the film failed to connect with the audience emotionally or narratively.
Unless a miracle turn of events happens, Retro seems poised to become one of the forgettable outings in Suriya’s filmography.
