The encounter of T20I supremacy between the skipper Virat Kohli and his deputy Rohit Sharma will look to carry on when India take on South Africa in the 3rd T20I in Bengaluru on Sunday. The two Indian modern greats are neck to neck on top of the directory of leading run-scorers’ in T20I cricket, with Kohli having a slight edge on Rohit to be on the top of the pile with his match-winning knock of 72* runs in the 2nd T20I against the South African attack earlier this week in Mohali.
But Kohli’s supremacy could come to an immediate end on Sunday, with Rohit can retrieve the top spot when he comes out to bat. The Hitman is just eight runs away from Kohli’s achievement, and could take the top spot. The Indian captain has 2,441 runs in T20I cricket, while the Mumbai Indians skipper has 2,434 runs.
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma’s opening partner, Shikar Dhawan, who has scored 6,996 runs in T20 cricket is just four runs away to reach 7,000 runs. If he manages to achieve this feat, he will turn out to be only the fourth Indian following Virat Kohli, Raina, and Rohit Sharma to reach the landmark in T20s.
India continued their winning streak in T20Is as they crushed South Africa in the 2nd T20I in Mohali. The skipper Kohli led his troops from the front as he smashed a 72 to help his team to chase down the easy total of 150 in 19 overs on a slowish track. Dhawan played an aggressive role with the bat, scoring a quickfire 40 in 31 balls before he got caught by David miller with a brilliant catch.
The Indian team taken a lead with 1-0 and they will face the Proteas in the final game of the series in Bangalore. But the rain is going to play a big part in Sunday’s clash
