Kamareddy: RTC workers on Friday tried to lay siege the house of Kamareddy MLA Gampa Govardhan here. Earlier, along with the leaders of Telangana Teachers Union, who extended their support to the strike, the RTC staff took out a rally from bus stand to the MLA’s house, passing through several streets and they raised slogans against the State government and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
They formed human chain in front of the bus stand and performed Bathukamma dance. Their protest continued for one hour leading to traffic jam. From there, they went to the MLA’s house as a rally and as the MLA was not there in the house, they submitted a petition to the house gate. The RTC workers criticised that the Chief Minister is conspiring to privatise the public transport system. Speaking on the occasion, the Teachers Union leaders said that the RTC workers are not alone in their strike and they will support them. They demanded the CM to respond to the RTC workers’ strike immediately and to address their legitimate demands.
