Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e as an Android tablet but not a laptop

Date:

Samsung has much to offer by bringing forth its Galaxy Tab S5e which happens to be a unique mid-range Android and not a laptop replacement. The features are unique.
The Galaxy Tab S5e happens to be a better Android tablet in the market right now. With a starting price of Rs 35,999, the Tab S5e does offer a great OLED display for media consumption and lightweight design. Let it not replace one’s laptop. This is what the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e review is all about.

The Tab S5e does offer a stunning OLED display and attractive quad speakers.
Snapdragon 670 will not be able to handle intensive workloads and RAM is limited to 4GB.
Samsung has been one of the very few players that have been trying to keep the Android tablet market alive. The company has indeed been steadily launching new tablets in India over a while. Last year, the company brought its flagship Galaxy Tab S4, which does offer slim bezels around a gorgeous AMOLED display, a powerful Snapdragon 835 chipset and DeX support. This year, the company did launch two more tablets, the Tab A 10.5 and Tab S5e. This can be observed in Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e review.

As of now, the focus is on reviewing the Galaxy Tab S5e which is rather available in India at a starting price of Rs 35,999 (Wi-Fi only). This is a premium mid-range tablet that is suggestively a light version of an unannounced Tab S5. Yet, it would be better to see the Tab S5e as a toned down Tab S4 as it does also offer similar features such as an AMOLED display with trimmed down bezels, quad speakers as well as DeX support. One can get familiarized by these aspects via Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e review.

Galaxy Tab S5e Design: Sleek and convenient

Tablets are indeed meant to be sleek and light enough to make it convenient to carry around instead of lugging a laptop. Fortunately, the Tab S5e sticks to that brief. Samsung’s latest tablet is accepted as being slim at 5.5mm and weighs at just about 400 grams, which makes it perfect to carry around for meetings or if in case one needs to work on the go.

The Galaxy Tab S5e does offer a compact form factor while still manages to offer a large 10.5-inch display. This is so as the bezels around the display are rather narrow. It does allow Samsung to offer more screen real estate while making it a handy device to hold. It is not quite bezel-less, but one does manage to get a screen ratio of over 80 percent, which is quite impressive.

Samsung has tried to offer a clean as well as immersive display

by trying to remove any form of distraction around the screen such as a physical home button or the Samsung branding. The back of the Tab S5e is indeed a smooth metal unibody that does cover those curves around the sides to meet the glass on the front. Both the Wi-Fi and LTE variants do come with an antenna strip on the given top. There is also a single rear camera on the top left corner.

The right side of the frame consists of a power button that does double up as a fingerprint sensor. The button is part of the frame. Once a person gets used to it, the sensor does work efficiently and is faster at unlocking the device. The right side of the frame does include the volume buttons and a microSD card tray.

POGO keyboard: Functional yet flawed

The Galaxy Tab S5e can indeed offer a PC-like experience if one attaches a POGO keyboard to it. The keyboard is a separate accessory that costs Rs 7,999. The keyboard magnetically gets attached to the back of the tablet. The keys on the keyboard are rounded, spaced out and offer good travel so it does offer a more keyboard-like feel compared to Apple’s own Smart Keyboard Folio.

Galaxy Tab S5e Display and Speakers: Samsung has the best OLED panels. This is amplified on the Tab S5e as it gets a 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a WQXGA (2560×1600) resolution. Like the Galaxy Tab S4, the Tab S5e also does offer a bright, vivid display with great color reproduction and excellent viewing angles. It is the biggest reason to go for the Tab S5e rather than an iPad.

Galaxy Tab S5e Performance, DeX mode, and Software: The Galaxy Tab S5e is no doubt powered by a mid-range Snapdragon 670 chipset, which happens to be the same processor that does power phones such as the Google Pixel 3a and Oppo R17 Pro. This is an octa-core processor with a peak speed of 2Ghz. The Tab S5e does come in a single 4GB + 64GB storage option in India.

The Galaxy Tab S5e is not just an entertainment device but also a productivity tablet similar to the Tab S4.
