Samsung is focusing on making foldable phones dustproof
Samsung is working on adding dust-proofing features to its foldable smartphones in response to consumer demand. However, due to the complex nature of foldable devices with many moving parts, achieving dust proofing is proving to be challenging. Roh Tae-moon, the president and head of Samsung Electronics mobile business, mentioned during a press conference that customers will need to wait a little longer for this feature to be incorporated into foldable devices.
Recently, they unveiled its fifth generation of Galaxy foldable devices, the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5, which are slimmer, lighter, and faster than previous models. The company is confident in the potential success of its foldable products and expects cumulative sales to exceed 30 million units this year.
While it dominated the global foldable phone market last year with a 76.9% share, its overall market share is gradually decreasing as more competitors enter the foldable market. Roh acknowledged this natural phenomenon but promised that it will continue to lead innovation in the foldable market.
Samsung India’s Senior Vice President, Raju Pullan, highlighted that the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Galaxy Z Fold5 are expected to gain significant traction in India, even in smaller towns, thanks to the availability of Samsung Finance+ and cash-back schemes, making premium smartphone experiences accessible to a broader audience.
