Secunderabad Cantonment roads closure: State to talk to Army

Date:

Hyderabad, (Telugu Bullet): Responding to the longstanding demand of people living in and around the Secunderabad Cantonment, the State government will hold talks with the Local Military Authority over opening the roads that were closed in the Army area.

On Friday, IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao asked Municipal Administration and Urban Development Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar to have a preliminary meeting with the LMA on the illegal closure of roads in the Secunderabad Cantonment area.

“We will certainly stand with our citizens in ensuring the unwarranted inconvenience is addressed,” Rao tweeted in response to tweets from local NGO Green Sainikpuri, asking him to look into the closure of roads.

Arvind Kumar, responding to the Minister’s tweet, said he would take it up with the General Officer Commanding, Telangana & Andhra Area and sit with their team to try and arrive at mutually agreeable openings at the earliest.

CS Chandrashekhar of Green Sainikpuri thanked the Minister for intervening in the issue.

“A total of 21 roads have been closed in SCB jurisdiction in 2018. We will submit the documents on road closure and inconvenience faced by the public in the meeting,” he said.
