Seediri Appalaraju Taken Into Custody in Ongoing Road Accident Investigation
YSRCP leader and former Andhra Pradesh minister Seediri Appalaraju has been taken into police custody in connection with the investigation into a fatal road accident that allegedly involved his son, Arav. The case has attracted widespread attention after investigators alleged attempts were made to mislead the probe and suppress key evidence.
According to police, the accident claimed one person’s life. As the investigation intensified, Arav surrendered before the authorities on July 10. During the probe, officials examined CCTV footage and other evidence. Investigators said Arav was seen refuelling his motorcycle at a petrol station around 9:07 PM on the day of the incident, with the accident reportedly occurring about 500 metres away from the fuel station.
Police further alleged that Arav left the accident spot in a car before officers reached the scene. The investigation has also raised questions about the initial registration of the case. According to officials, Arav’s name was not included in the original FIR. Instead, Siddhartha Thyadi, reportedly the son of one of Appalaraju’s supporters, was named as an accused and was later released on station bail.
The case gained significant public attention after media reports linked the former minister’s son to the fatal accident. Following increased public scrutiny, police conducted a detailed investigation, which eventually led to Arav surrendering before the authorities.
Police said the investigation is still underway, including allegations of attempts to influence the course of the probe. The custody of Seediri Appalaraju is part of the ongoing investigation, and authorities are continuing to gather evidence before taking further action.
