Shahrukh Khan’s Alibaug Farmhouse in Trouble- IT issues notices

Income Tax Department has attached Bollywood Baadhshah Shahrukh Khan’s Alibaug farmhouse under the new Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Amended Act, 2016.
The property covers over an area of 19,960 square meters and values Rs.146.7 million. According to the IT Sleuths, the land was purchased for agricultural purposes, has been converted into a farmhouse with swift comforts like swimming pool, a private beach, and a helipad. This falls under Benami transaction under Section 2(9) of the Act.
In this whole event, Déjà vu farms played a key role (Benami) to the Bollywood Star. His family, including wife Gauri Khan’s father, mother and her sister are directors of this firm. It attained unsecured loan of Rs. 8.4 crore from SRK for purchasing the agricultural land in Alibaug. Till date, there was no farming activity done over there.
Khan family frequently visits this place for recreational activities, celebrating parties and family outing. In the recent times as well they have conducted parties for family and friends.
According to the law, the attachment of the property cannot cannot go over a 90-day period, from the date of issuance of the notice.
