Dual Dhamaka: South Indian Stars Set to Amaze with Dual Roles in Upcoming Films

Dual roles have always been a favorite trend in South Indian cinema, especially in Telugu films, where our top stars love taking on the challenge of portraying two contrasting characters. The legacy continues with a new wave of dual- and even triple-role films lined up for release in 2025 and beyond. Let’s take a look at the most anticipated South Indian movies where star heroes are ready to impress in multiple avatars.

1. Akhanda 2 – Nandamuri Balakrishna

After the roaring success of Akhanda, Balakrishna is back in a dual role for Akhanda 2, directed by Boyapati Srinu. With massive expectations riding on this sequel, the film is gearing up for a grand theatrical release on September 25, 2025.

2. The Raja Saab – Prabhas

Rebel Star Prabhas returns in a grandfather-grandson dual role in The Raja Saab, directed by Maruthi. Following Baahubali and Kalki 2898 AD, this marks another unique dual-role performance in his career.

3. Allu Arjun–Atlee Film – Triple Role Surprise

In a career-first triple role, Allu Arjun teams up with director Atlee for a big-budget action entertainer. Featuring Deepika Padukone, Rashmika Mandanna, and Mrunal Thakur, the film is being produced by Sun Pictures, with a fourth leading lady expected to join soon.

4. Sardar 2 – Karthi

Following the success of Sardar, Karthi reprises his dual role in the spy thriller’s sequel. Sardar 2 is expected to release in Diwali 2025, continuing the gripping tale of father and son.

5. Vijay Deverakonda–Rahul Sankrityan Project

Vijay Deverakonda will be seen in a father-son dual role in his upcoming period action drama, directed by Rahul Sankrityan. The film is currently in pre-production and will go on floors after he wraps up Rowdy Janardhan.

6. Devara 2 – Jr. NTR

After portraying dual roles in Devara, Jr. NTR is rumored to return in two roles again in Devara 2. While one of the characters was presumed dead in Part 1, sources say we’ll still see glimpses of both roles in the sequel.

Bonus Buzz: More Dual Roles on the Horizon

  • Chiranjeevi is reportedly playing dual roles in his next film with Anil Ravipudi.

  • Ram Charan is said to be taking on two roles in Peddi

  • Jr. NTR might reprise dual roles again in his upcoming film with Prashanth Neel

These remain unconfirmed for now, but if true, 2025-2026 is shaping up to be a double-impact era for South Indian cinema!
