Sri Lanka ODI Team sent home after boarding the plane!

The 3rd test between India and Sri Lanka will be finishing tomorrow. Post that, the two nations will play 3-match ODI series starting from December 10th, 2017. Nine players, including ODI captain Thisara Perera, are apart of the Sri Lankan Cricket Team which would take part in the ODI series. The ODI was scheduled to arrive in India by Tuesday morning. But the team failed to report to the BCCI management.

Probing into the matter, it was learned that the players never left their country in the first place. All the players reached the airport by 2100 hours (9 pm) local time on Monday night. But they were asked to go back to their homes from the airport. Surprisingly, few players have even boarded the flight before they were called back.

It is understood that the Sri Lanka Cricket Board failed to get the required clearance from the Sports Ministry. ‘It is a law in Sri Lanka that any sports team representing the country anywhere in the world should seek the clearance and permission from the Sports minister before their departure. The players were not granted permission after the Sri Lankan board delayed in sending the list of players for the Indian tour. This will be sorted out by tomorrow afternoon,’ said a Sri Lanka Cricket Board official.
