The One Film Rajamouli Calls His ”Best”—And It’s Not Baahubali or RRR!
As the much-anticipated bilingual film Junior starring Sreeleela and Kireeti Reddy gears up for its theatrical release on July 18, 2025, all eyes were on the grand pre-release event held last night. Among the highlights of the evening was the presence of visionary director SS Rajamouli, who attended as the chief guest for the Telugu version’s launch.
During a spontaneous interaction hosted by anchor Suma, a rapid-fire slideshow featured posters from Rajamouli’s filmography. For each slide, the acclaimed director was asked to describe the film in just one word. When Eega appeared on screen, Rajamouli didn’t “hesitate—”Eega, my best film,” he declared confidently.
Why Eega Still Reigns Supreme in Rajamouli’s Eyes
While Rajamouli has crafted global blockbusters like Baahubali and RRR, his statement reaffirms the emotional and creative value of Eega in his illustrious career. Released in 2012, Eega became a massive commercial and critical success, praised for its originality, technical brilliance, and storytelling.
Starring Nani, Samantha Ruth Prabhu, and Sudeep, the film follows a man reincarnated as a housefly seeking revenge against his killer. The concept, though risky at the time, paid off, turning Eega into a cult classic across languages.
Produced by Sai Korrapati and D. Suresh Babu, Eega showcased Rajamouli’s flair for blending fantasy with emotion and continues to inspire filmmakers even today.
