Sumanth Opens Up About Missing Two Tollywood Blockbusters

Actor Sumanth has once again spoken about two of the biggest missed opportunities in his career—Nuvve Kavali and Desamuduru. During the promotions of his upcoming film Newton’s Third Law, the actor reflected on why he couldn’t be part of those films and how he looks back at those decisions today.

Although Sumanth comes from the prestigious Akkineni family, he said his career followed a different path, with a greater focus on content-driven films rather than chasing commercial stardom.

Why Sumanth Missed Nuvve Kavali

Sumanth revealed that director K. Vijaya Bhaskar had initially approached him for Nuvve Kavali, the romantic drama that went on to become one of the biggest Telugu blockbusters of 2000.

However, he was already committed to Yuvakudu and Pelli Sambandham (reported as Pelli Savathi in some reports), making it impossible for him to accept the offer.

The role eventually went to Tarun, and the film became a sensational success.

Desamuduru Was Also Offered to Him

Sumanth also disclosed that he was the first actor to hear the script of Desamuduru, directed by Puri Jagannadh.

For various reasons, the project did not materialize with him, and the role eventually went to Allu Arjun.

Interestingly, Sumanth said he believes the film achieved its massive success because of Allu Arjun’s energy and screen presence, adding that it may not have reached the same level if he had played the lead role.

No Regrets About the Missed Films

Rather than expressing disappointment, Sumanth spoke positively about the films and appreciated the actors who eventually starred in them.

His comments have once again gone viral on social media, with many fans praising his honesty and sportsmanship.

Now Focused on Newton’s Third Law

Sumanth is currently busy promoting Newton’s Third Law, directed by Rajesh Karna and produced by K. Harish.

The film features Sumanth in a key role and is scheduled to release in theatres on July 31, 2026.

The actor hopes the film’s unique concept will connect with audiences and add another meaningful project to his career.
