Sumanth’s Anaganaga Turns Streaming Sensation; Actor Gets Candid About Bollywood Rejections
Akkineni hero Sumanth is back in the spotlight, thanks to the emotional web film Anaganaga. Streaming on ETV Win, the film has resonated deeply with audiences, crossing over 150 million streaming minutes. It has not only brought Sumanth renewed attention but has also drawn praise from big names — including Superstar Mahesh Babu, who was reportedly moved by the film’s heartfelt storytelling.
Anaganaga also stars Kajal Chowdhary and Viharsh in lead roles, and is directed by Sunny Sanjay, whose work has been lauded for its emotional depth and simple yet engaging narration.
As part of the film’s success celebrations, Sumanth and director Sunny Sanjay recently participated in an interactive fan chit-chat session. During the event, a fan raised a question about industry favoritism and whether individuals with a film background have easier access to opportunities.
Sumanth responded honestly, saying:
“Even those with a film background need to give auditions after a point. Just a few days ago, I auditioned for four to five Hindi films. I was rejected because I don’t have a strong command over Hindi. The language barrier cost me those opportunities. Had I not been an actor, I would have done something else.”
The actor’s candidness struck a chord with fans, highlighting the challenges even seasoned actors face — particularly in crossing language boundaries within Indian cinema.
With Anaganaga proving to be a major hit in the web space, and Sumanth continuing to push his limits, it looks like this phase of his career might lead to even more meaningful roles — across languages and platforms.
